Special thanks to bonsreeb85

Poured with a mighty head, golden caramel color, bubbly with good lace.

Smells of grapefruit and lemon! So much citrus. Floral hops as well. The amarillo hops definately make a statement here.

Hoppy goodness! I love it! Sort of a metallic off flavor. The best by date is this month so i think that has a lot to do with it and its past its prime but i must say the hoppyness is holding up strongly. I would love to get ahold of some of this fresh straight out of the tap.

Medium body leaves a dry feeling on the roof of the mouth.

Great drinkability! No alcohol presence for this 6.8% beauty. Could easily drink 6 of these in a night.

Tasted on July 5th, 2009.

Received during CanBIF5 from Ralphus.

My bottle says 6.8% ABV.

A: Slightly cloudy, copper color. The head is generous after the pour, however it disappear quite fast.
S: Hops! The aroma is medium intense. I get citrus mainly, but not bad citrus... a little resinous...
T: Hops bitterness (citrus and resinous).
M: Medium body and smooth. The aftertaste is so generous in resinous... awesome. Very dry.
D: Easy to drink for an IPA at 6.8% ABV.

Hazy copper colored body with a nice sudsy white head that leaves sticky sheets of lace behind on the glass. Floral, fruity hops and caramel malt make up the nose. The hops bring grapefruit rind and pineapple to mind and are nicely balanced by a good deal of caramel maltiness that lingers in the finish, alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied with crisp carbonation. A nicely balanced easy drinking IPA.

A - Golden yellow, decent amount of carbination, great head retention, large amounts of lacing as the glass goes down

S - grapefruit and citrus hops followed by bitter hop smell, sweet malt smell in the background

T - Great IPA, decently sweet but enough hops stronger than the malt profile build on the palate. Hops taste of grape fruit, citrus, slight lemon, and pine. Great balance of flavors with the malt smoothing out the bitter after taste that still lingers. This beer remains true to the style.

M - Carbination matches the thickness, i'd say medium body, certainly not as thick as a DIPA. Slight oily residue left behind with each sip, but the flavor is alive and tickles the palate.

D - Very good considering 7%... people seem to love or hate this beer. I've never had Smutty nose or Stone, but those are a few extra dollars a sixer... I just can't afford right now. Maybe once I try those my opinion of this beer will change... til then... If i'm looking for a decent priced IPA for the evening this is my go to beer!

Poured from Bottle into Pint glass.

Pours a clear golden with some orange hues and a slightly rocky, creamy off-white head that eventually forms a nice film atop of the glass. The aroma is resinous hops, grapefruit, a little alcohol and some malt. The flavor is sweet malt upfront followed by some citrus and piney hop bitterness with a sweet, dry finish. Its medium bodied that is softly carbonated. This is a pretty decent beer but certainly doesn't stand out as anything special.

Clear golden orange coloring with about two fingers of creamy head. Hoppy citrusy and pine aroma. This isn't an "in your face" hops, but it is plenty powerful. I really felt the taste to be very balanced. Has much of the resiny hops taste and feel leaning more towards some DIPA's. There is a minimal amount of malts for balance, but they are definitely in the background. Overall, I found this to be very satisfying and a joy to drink. Props to Boulder Beer Co.

Solid IPA, nothing more or spectacular.

appearance: golden, amber not reddish tint like a god strong IPA

smell: decent hop and floral aroma

taste: if this was a pale ale it would be an A but it's more like a weak IPA but a very solid flavorful beer though. decently balanced and some great hoppy floral pine tatse

mouthfeel: light bodied

drinkability: solid IPA but not a great one. Their doubler is famous though

A- Deep gold with just a touch of orange. A nice head forms upon pouring and leaves tons of lacing as it dissipates.

S- The hops are front and center and lean more towards the piney and floral end of the aroma spectrum. The malt presence seems a bit higher than the typical IPA with a distinct biscuit and caramel smell asserting itself rather than simply backing the hops.

T- Starts out slightly tart with a lemony flavor that segues into a tea-like flavor. The hops begin to assert themselves near the finish with a big pine sap bitterness that comes almost out of the blue. What smelled like a very well-balanced beer turns out to be quite hop-forward on the palate. The bitterness is certainly not overwhelming, but it's fairly strong and sticks around for a while.

M- Medium-bodied with a decent level of carbonation. Good, but nothing spectacular.

D- The bitterness actually starts to wear on you after a while. Still, it's decently drinkable. I could have a couple of these.

Another decent IPA that fails to distinguish itself in a crowded field. There's really nothing overtly wrong with this beer, but there's nothing fantastic either. There are certainly better options, but it's a tasty enough brew. If you're a fan of the style go ahead and give it a shot, just don't expect to be blown away.

Appearance - a cloudy, light copper with a white head.

Smell - the citrus of the hops jumps right out while malt sweetness is lingering in the background.

Taste - A spicy/citrus taste experience. Hop-heads rejoice. This is a winner for those who love bitter!

Mouthfeel - crisp and clean.

Drinkability - Fantastic example of the APA style. I will begin to consume this on a regular basis.

pours clear golden orange with a 1 finger head that leaves lacing down th glass

smell is big juicy fruity tropical hops and some alcohol

taste is fruity hops sweet malt backbone and a little soap(very similar to SN torpedo but a bit heavier and smoother)

mouthfeel is a medium/heavy body ipa - good carbonation that leaves a nice smooth and slightly crisp finish for an ipa that has some weight to it and does not coat the mouth very clean

drinkability is good - this is one of my goto ipas- never let down on flavor and $8 a sixer you cant go wrong

Aged 18 months in the beer fridge.

Pours medium gold, a little lighter than expected. Little head, less retention, and no lacing.

Nose is extremely thick and hoppy. Slightly peaty and earthy. Only very slightly piney.

Very thick on the hit and on the finish. Very earthy and very chewy. Very high hop content.

Goes down suprisingly easy, but you have to like hops.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Very little head and even less lacing in the glass. Very light orange to golden in color. Slightly astringent with notes of grapefruit and pine. Fairly well balanced IPA with just enough malt flavor in the background to keep this from being a real hop bomb. A decent brew but it didn't knock my socks off.

Poured into my pint glass from a 12fl oz bottle

Pours a very light orange color with a three finger soft fluffy head. The head resides down slowly leaving lacing behind.

Smell is of piny hops, citrus, some floral notes.

Hops dominate this one. Bitter upfront hop taste with just the slightest malt backbone which barely shows.

Mouthfeel is medium with high carbonation and a bitter dry finish.

Better IPAs out there, was not really impressed with this one.

A - Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Appears to be very heavily carbonated. Despite the head being somewhat small, it retains pretty well.

S - Floral, Citrus hops with hints of tropical fruit, reminiscent of pineapple. Slight sweet, caramel malt in the background.

T - Similar to the aroma. Pretty well balanced flavor with some floral, citrus hoppiness with some of the tropical fruit flavors as well. Balanced with a mellow sweet malt backbone.

M - Medium bodied with a bit too much carbonation. Slightly resinous and leaves a fruity hoppiness on the palate after drinking.

D - Not really bad in any way, but not especially standout either. Decent IPA with decent flavor and drinkability

The beer is poured with a good centimeter head. The head is mostly white and fluffy. Some thickness to it as well. The colour is gold, and mostly clear. The nose on the beer is very small. I get some maltiness and a slight bit of spicy amarillo hops, but that's really it. Quite bland. The flavour of the beer is quite nice though. A solid malt backbone with a firm fruity/spiciness. However, there is a slight bit of a metallic aftertaste in the bitterness. The fruitiness is reminiscent of pineapple that is complemented with a firm spiciness. Quite thing mouthfeel, but quite drinkable.

There isn't much to this IPA, but it's decently drinkable. I would not be disappointed, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to have another.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

Pretty average all around. Pineapple flavor that distracts from everything else. Finishes with a sweet caramel that doesn't mesh with the other flavors. Probably won't buy this one too often, many IPA's I'd rather spend my money on. Not a bad beer, just nothing special.

Served in a standard shaker/pint glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: The beer is a clear orange/amber color with a few floaties and a ½" creamy off-white head that persists for a while and then recedes to a ring around the glass and a smooth thin cover of foam on the surface almost to the end of the beer. Sipping leaves lots of great streaks and speckles of lacing.

Smell: The aroma is complex and crisp with fruity floral hops (grapefruit, orange zest) and enough malt to bring in some caramel sweetness.

Taste: As expected from the aroma the flavor is of fruity floral hops with malt sweetness in the background to balance the hops. This means the flavor components are some caramel, some varieties of citrus (grapefruit and lemon zest mostly) and maybe even a bit of pine. The problem is the flavors are all blended together so well its hard to separate things out while they are bouncing back and forth in the mouth.

Mouthfeel: The mouth feel is medium bodied with a good smooth creaminess from the carbonation. The finish is long, begins sweet with the malt and then trails off into hoppy citric/piney bitterness that slowly fades leaving you wanting another sip.

Drinkability: This is an IPA I could drink over and over again. I can't believe I missed out on this one during my last trip to Boulder. That won't happen next time. I'll be happy to see more of this beer in my glass.

Served in bottle at the Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell, NJ..
Not the most impressive appearance, sort of a generic "beer" look.. like you'd see in a cartoon or such.. very clear with white head.. Aroma and Taste are both very fruity and very hoppy.. its got the flavor and hop presence of a DIPA but the light, super-drinkable mouthfeel and weight of a normal IPA.. The mouth also has a very nice carbonation level, not too biting. Overall very, very smooth and easy to drink. Very tasty with a veggie burger.

Pours a golden, light copper color witha two-finger head into my glass. Looks good so far.

Aroma is full of floral and grassy hops with a bit of biscuit malt underneath.

Taste is full of floral hops upfront with grapefruit/citrus showing through nicely. Hop bitterness is just right. Malt is where it should be.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering citrus hops. Very clean finish. I like it.

A decent IPA for sure. Got the right amount of hop bitterness and all. Check it out.

This pours orange with amber undertones and a decent head. Nice-looking beer. The aroma is pleasant with hops up front, but definite malt and citrus presence.

The taste is just as balanced. The hops are the first thing to hit, but there's plenty of room for the other flavors. Enjoyable beer to drink.

There's nothing that makes this brew particularly distinct, but boy, it goes down nicely. I might not seek it out, but I'd be more than happy to have it again.

Pours clean and clear. Nice golden color with about half inch of white head that fades quick leaving a nice fluffy film around the glass. Looks like a great IPA as far as appearance is concerned.

Smell is sweet and syrupy, apple juice, some fresh hop aroma but not the blast of piney, citrusy I've come to expect from upper echelon IPAs.

Taste does however redeem this beer quite quickly. Its sweet up front but not syrupy or cloying and is followed by a very assertice hop bitterness that provides a nice crisp finish. Very taste stuff.

7% is a great ABV in my opinion, its strong enough to make you want to slow down and enjoy what you're drinking and not strong enough to where you'd only be able to find it in a bomber.

Great job Boulder and happy 30th birthday!

I got this in a clear growler. It glistened like honey in the container, a nice golden color. I poured it into a pint glass with about an inch of head. Aroma has a decent hop presence. Alot of lemon, a little grapefruit too. For the taste I got a good hop bite at first, balanced with a little malt sweetness. The hoppiness with lemon flavor came out through the nose at the end. It has medium carbonation and coats the mouth slightly. This is one of my new favorites, I really like the ipa's that are golden in color, and focus on the citrus flavor in the hoppiness.
Edit: I just bought this in a six pack, (expires in a month) a week from my growler purchase and the bottle is good, but I'm glad I got my first impression on tap because the bottle doesn't give it justice. The hop character came through stronger on tap.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass,
Hazy amber color with a generous 2 finger head and nice lacing on it's way down the glass.

Upfront on the nose floral hops dominated but i also got a bit of fruity sweetness.

The thick malty backround was a tasty canvas for the aggressive hops which stole the show. finished with a satisfying hop bitterness but not before a sweet fruitiness made its appearance.

Very quaffable brew, nice mouthfeel and perfect medium body/carbonation.

I will definately add this to my list of solid go-to IPAs

Grolwer fill for $7. Score.

A: Slightly hazy golden color. A finger of white head.

S: Nice floral citrus nose with some hints of grapefruit. A really nice example of a west coast IPA.

T: A nice malt taste up front with a nice hop finish. This beer is so to style it is almost boring. But damn it is amazing how balanced it is.

M: Very nice carbonation for a growler fill

D: All day. For the price and the taste this has an amazing drinkability. I think quite a bit of Boulder stuff is so dependable and "boring" that it gets a bad rap. Really nice beer.
