Pours a slightly cloudy copper color with a thin head. I don't get any hops in the nose. Did I get a mislabeled bottle or something? Doesn't taste like a IPA at all. Tastes malty and yeasty and slightly flat, thin, and watery. I gave it 3.0 across the board as I obviously got a old, bad, or mislabled beer. Better luck next time I guess.

Wimpy pour lead to a one finger head and some nice cloudy burnt amber body.Grapefruit and some piney smells in the nose.Piney taste then leads to malty then to amarillo hops, the dank, resiny hop taste that sticks to the roof of your mouth.Nice mouthfeel.I also smell some pancake and syryp in the nose as well. There really isnt a bad part about this APA.Its tasty and I think it weighs in on the west coast side of the style.Tasty and the alcohol isnt that bad,but two may be your limit.I would have again for sure.

Appearance:
The beer pours light copper in color. There's a picture worthy sticky white head to the beer that displays superb retention and fine lacing as as I drain the glass.

Smell:
Everything I would expect from a good American IPA is present. There's a solid presence of grapefruit and tangerine rind with an underlying note of pine resin. Unfortunately this bottle's scent comes across a little less potent than I would have liked but a fine aroma still.

Taste and Mouthfeel:
Up front there's some aggressive bitterness and strong flavors of tangerine and strawberry punch candy. About mid drink a peak of candy sweet orange comes up while still maintaining the solid bitterness, this then pans out in to a dry rind bitterness which makes for a nice clean finish. There's a pleasant aftertaste of orange.

Drinkability:
This is easily my favorite IPA so maybe I'm biased, but I find these to go down easy and en mass.

Bottom Line:
It's a shame the Mojo Risin' was a little disappointing but that will never take away from how awesome the Mojo or the Hazed and Infused are. I highly recommend this beer to fellow hop heads, others may find it a little too hop heavy even for an IPA.

Pours an orange color with an off white creamy head that leaves a considerable amount of lacing. Clear, sparkling beautiful ale. Smell is all hops and it is great. Pine, herbs, flowers, grapefruit, delicious. Taste is moderately bitter at first with the great hops, then finishes with some moderate sweetness. Moutfeel is medium with somewhat of an oily texture and lively carbonation.

Hazy, amber, nice big off-white head that sticks around and sticks to the glass. Smells of carmel malts nad pine and green hops. Tastes much the smae. well balnced in my mind but hop bitterness linger quite a long time. Smooth, medium body that coats the mouth with nice hop oils. I think I could easliy drink a six-pack...oh, wait, I did.

A solid brew across the board.

Pours light caramel amber with a huge fluffy white head and a bit of of haziness.

Nose is total juicy sweet ruby red grapefruit. Amarillo, bitches! Very nice, very clean.

Sweet biscuit malts up front, a lot of Valencia orange mid tongue. Grapefruit throughout. Ends with a light, pleasant, resinous bitterness.

Medium body, the insane front loaded hops makes this beer extraordinarily drinkable and refreshing. Awesome beer.

poured from a bottle, has a orange color to it, slight cloudiness to it with a head that laces rather well. smells very good, lots of citrus hops fill the nose with some piney scents as well. tastes good too, a strong bitterness is the most dominant taste, but has a pleasant aftertaste. mouthfeel is good and full, and drinkability is good also, not a bad ipa if i say so myself

S: Hops and citrus, but nothing that jumps out right away.

T: Smooth, refreshing. Predictable and somewhat uninteresting, but definitely satisfying.

M: Lighter and crisper than other IPAs.

On tap at Redbones
Poured a pale orange color with a thin white head that left little lace. Very fruity citrusy aroma that continued to develop as the beer warmed up. The flavor was a bit piney but mostly citrus hops with a nice bitter finish. This was a slow sipper for me and 1 was enough.

Poured a nice hazy dark yellow with a decent lasting head that left spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma was surprisingly overpowered by sweet malts with decent citrus hops lingering in the back. The taste was a great blend of citrus hops just slightly overpowering sweet malts. The beer is light bodied with very well hidden alcohol. This is a very enjoyable beer, as one that had been part of a limited release series for four years now, here's to hoping they keep it around permanently.

Boulder Beer Company's fourth installment in their looking glass series, a wonderfully crafted IPA. In typical American fashion this one sits on the higher end of the scale, weighing in at 6.8%.

A bulk of white head sits over a blurred body. The colour is similar to that on the label - orange with browned center and bright flashes of yellow up the sides. Looks rather unfiltered. Immensely thorough lacing. Bubbles are active throughout.

A sharp citrus tang in the aroma. A pleasantly fresh smell of orange and tangerine. More than anything this is fresh oranges and pineapple too! It also would seem as if there was actual citrus (lemon or lime, maybe as well) added, but alas it is simply the fantastic character of hops! A tad one dimensional, there isn't much past the Amarillos, but all the same, God bless 'em...so refreshing and delicious they are.

I could hardly bear putting off tasting it any longer, the aroma was enticing. As anticipated, this is quenching. Very quenching. The hops still ever present and round the mouthfeel off with a light but sharp bitterness. Very crisp. The malts are toasty and it ends up finishing a little on the dry side.

The taste and smell differ considerably which makes the beer all that more interesting, two-dimensional in a sense. Indeed the taste is more malty than hoppy. Flavour is mostly a cookie like biscuit malt. Tastes like malt cookies! The biscuit malt quite predominant but there is always some tang from the hops. Balanced with the extra bit of alcohol unnoticed. Very quaffable.

Another beer I wish I had year around access to, I'm sure it would be a main-stay in my fridge. It's balanced, hoppy and downright quenching! In the appropriate words of the great Chuck Swirsky: "they got the mojo workin'!"

Dark golden color. A little on the cloudy side. Nice frothy white head at first that drop to a thin sticky film. Globs of lacing. Fruity smell that is stong on the pineapple side. This is a very unique and appealing hop smell that I can't say that I've noticed before. Taste isn't quite as good as the smell but is still much better than average. Hops leans toward the piney side in the taste. Mouthfeel is a little sticky and resinous. Everything considered this is another good IPA to go with all the other ones that are available.

12oz bottle, served in a pint glass.

A - golden color with a good white head and lots of lacing.

S - hops hit the nose as the glass nears my lips.

T - yum, this beer will help you get your 'Hop Jones' on. Very good balance on the way down and then it's all hop bitterness on the finish.

M - medium bodied, creamy head, somewhat oily, fine carbonation.

D - a few of these over the course of an evening is very easy, but be careful of the abv sneakin' up on you.

12oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams pint glass. Pours a golden orange color with a nice white head. The aroma is filled with wonder piney hops annd malt. The taste much like the smell is highlighted by the hops but there is a nice malt backbone as well. Overall, this is a really solid IPA all around and I would quaff a few of these with joy anytime. The color was a golden with a nice foamy head.

It smelled of citrusy hops and a little malt.

The taste was smooth with a nice bitter.

The mouthfeel was a cool linger and hit the tip of the tongue and sides of the mouth.

I enjoyed the smoothness of the beer and will have another.

On tap at Smokin’ Joes, Southside of Pittsburgh, PA.
A: Lovely dark gold color with hues of orange throughout. Perfect amount of head for an IPA; kudos to the bartender.
S: The hops are right in your nose immediately, and they don’t go away. The varieties of hops meld nicely to create a coherent fruity and bitter scent that is pleasing and enticing.
T: Again, the hops are right on you and they stay there. However, they’re not overwhelming; rather, they’re well-balanced and complement each other nicely. Overall, fairly piney and floral. Hints of sweetness.
M: Every time I put my glass down, I wanted to pick it back up. The feeling is bitter and biting, given the style, but it’s one of the smoothest among IPAs I’ve tried.
D: Very good. I wish I could have stayed for another.
Overall, an excellent IPA. This is pretty much what I think of when I think of beer.

My friend's brother brought some of these to Northern Cal via Arizona.

Pours a crystal clear gold color with a nice solid white head.

Aromas are of crystal malts and grapefruit.

Beer tastes very dry, with a very bitter pronounced grapefruit flavor. There is also some creamy crystal malt flavors on the finish as well.

Mouthfeel is good. The full and long finish is nice.

Drinkability is very good. A tasty and pretty easy drinking IPA. Definitely worth trying.

12 oz bottle given to me by a girl i know who got it from her boss who belongs to a beer of the month club. why he doesn't drink it, i don't know. the name "mojo" intrigued me.

A- slightly hazy, but mostly transparent golden honey in color with a yellowish sticky fluffy 2in of head that settles to 1/4in within a few minutes leaving finger-like clumps of lace in its wake.

S- sour orange/grapefruit candy with biscuits and a stickly floral hop leaf gravy. slight hay grassiness in the background.

T- not usually a fan of most IPA's, but this one caught me off guard. first there was instant caramel, then grapefruit and lemon and bitter orange just like the aroma suggested, then as soon as you swallow BAM! intense hops all over the palate that made me step back for a moment and wonder what the hell was going on. all that was followed by a resinous flowery pine sap toffee aftertaste that made me want to take another drink.

MF- kinda oily because of all the hop resin, yet crisp at the same time with ideal carbonation.

D- i had no problem finishing this bottle, but i think one is enough for me due to its boldness and intensity. the best IPA i've ever had.

edit 4/08: less than a year ago i didn't really dig ipa's and now it's my favortie style. it's funny how things change.

This is a substantial IPA. It pours an orangish color with a decent head, some lacing, but it does dissipate quicker than I would like. The smell is hop resin and pine. I can smell a variety of evergreens with this one. The taste is very hoppy, piney, and you can taste the esters and hop resin throughout. There is an underlying malty sweetness that makes this beer interesting. It is a light to medium bodied beer, with decent carbonation. There is plenty of bitterness due to the substantial hop character, but there is more here than just hops. One of the reviewers referenced grapefruit. Okay, perhaps, sure I'll I go with that description. The aftertaste has a lingering effect and the mouthfeel is about right. This beer is quite refreshing as well. L'Chaim.

I have had the pleasure of this beer in the bottle and on tap. It appears a bright orange/yellow with a short head.

The smell is of grapefruit and stands out well.

Taste is r esin and grapefruit rind immediately on the tongue. It then washes into a full body of malt flavor wthout beeing sweet. It coats the tongue well and lingers in the mouth.

Very drinkable; bitter but not harsh. Sit back and enjoy.

Pours a hazy pale orange with a sticky white head.

Lemon zest, grass, and floral aromas. Smells like 90 percent of American IPAs out there. Also some soapy and earthy notes.

Starts grainy with a touch of light caramel malt. This quickly progresses into cascade/amarillo hop flavors which include: orange, lemon, mild pine and lots of floral flavors. Not bad at all but there is nothing here that will make IPA fans rejoice.

Mouthfeel is pleasantly bolder than its flavor profile. Slick and chewy. This is a nice beer that most will enjoy but it will leave the most experienced IPA drinkers wanting something with a little more character.

12 ounce bottle, shaker pint.

A - A light yellowish amber color. About a finger of white head.

S - A nice piny hop aroma on the nose.

T - Piny hops lead the way then give way to a tea like flavor. A bit of sweetness with a tiny bit of alcohol tinge come through. Then the taste finishes bitter.

M - A little bit thin for the style but fairly nice.

D - Not bad for a hop fix. Definitely accomplishes that end.

The Mojo IPA poured a coppery orange liquid, capped with nice dense white head. The head remained and left an abundance of lacing. Smell is strong floral hops with a grapefruit element strongly evident. Taste is a piney hop blast, very nice. The grapefruit and floral element seem to take a back seat to the hops. The malt is even more subdued. Mouthfeel is bitter and clean, the piney hops blasting my palate. A very drinkable IPA, i had to force myself to save the last two brews for later.

Pours a very clear light copper. Billowy white head with decent lacing.

Smell is bready malt and floral hops.

Taste is slightly citrus, but mostly floral hops. A nice balance of toasty malt in the middle of this one.

Well balanced mouthfeel. Carbonated just right and very smooth.

Overall, a delight to drink. Has a very English IPA feel to it, but is bold enough to earn the American IPA badge. Recommended.
