Pours a half finger of head on a hazy light straw body.
The aroma is a nice banana, dry grain and clove.
The taste is a mild lemon bitterness with a touch of honey sweet.
The texture is soft and fizzy.
A nice and easy drinking brew.

A: [2.50] Very clear pale yellow. The beer forms almost no head. Has an enjoy by date of 3/10/15. No listed ABV or IBUs.

S: [2.50] Grassy wet straw smell.

T: [2.75] Strong Belgian wheat flavor. Some lemon zest flavor.

M: [3.00] Carbonation is good. The body is a little thin.

O: [2.50] I really don't like the Belgian wheat flavor. The nose let me know that this was going to be not a hit for me.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, semi-opaque, golden, honey color specked with orange highlights and an eighth of a finger of white head that completely dissolved away into no head what-so-ever.

Aroma: Very aromatic with notes of toasted wheat, imparting aromas of whole-wheat crackers, and unsweetened breakfast cereal. I also get lots of notes of lemon and orange-like citrus, banana, honey, coriander, black pepper, clove, sage and thyme, as well as bubblegum.

Taste: Decent. Like a traditional wheat beer should. Toasted wheat up front, followed by honey-like sweetness, orange and lemon-like citrus, banana, clove, coriander, black pepper, and some strong wheat beer yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium/medium-thin bodied, and very smooth, as there is no carbonation what-so-ever. With an ABV of 5.9%, there is no alcohol on the palate.

Overall: Boulder’s Sweaty Betty is a decent beer. It has the traditional flavors of a wheat beer, which is why I’m not a huge fan of it. Fans of wheat beers should really like this beer though.

06/14 On tap. Really nice on this hot muggy afternoon. Most noticeable is the buttery mouth-feel, which I don't mind at all. Not sure the imagery of a Sweaty Betty is all that appealing on a hot summers day, but hey...

07/25/12 On tap. Lemony with out being citrusy, not that that's a bad thing. Clean finish with a medium body.

Summer time calls for lighter beers. Here's hoping Sweaty Betty can deliver. On to the beer:

A little paler thank banana peel yellow with a cloudy body, a thick semi-creamy head, and impressive head retention. The aroma is solid, bringing a watered down banana note, a vague spiciness, and light notes of grass.

Pleasant overall light flavor with enough soft flavors to give you drinking more and more. It's sweet in a creamy kind of way, tasting more like a cream-based dessert than a clean American wheat or full flavored German hefeweizen. Creamy banana is more present here than it was in the aroma, and makes the strongest point of the beer's taste. Subtle clove hits too. The beer has a light mouthfeel with soft carbonation, leading to easy drinkability.

Fair summer refresher out of Boulder, and a better choice than what you'll find at many summer parties.

Sampling right now on 5/11/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 10 ounce glass 'boot'.

Pours a light hazy straw yellow in color with a 1/2-finger of a fizzy white head that settles down to along the sides of the glass. Lots of streaming bubbles rising up from the bottom and sides of the boot. Very little lacing is seen. The aroma is of malts and wheat with a hint of light spice. The taste is pretty much the same with a light hint of citrus as well. Very easy to drink with no bitter or harsh aftertaste. A great summer seasonal brew for a hot day. Overall, I like this one.

Enjoy by 5/28/14.

Pours a hazy light yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, caramel, banana, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with banana and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with a nice smell, but the flavors aren't as good in my opinion.

12 oz. bottle poured into a hefeweizen glass.

Pours a light hazy straw color with one finger of lively white foam that quickly disappears with almost no retention or lacing. It actually smells pretty good. Faint banana, lemon, pale malts, and spicy yeast.

The mouthfeel is an immediate letdown. The carbonation seems only slightly light for the style, but it's a poor match for the ultra light body. The taste is quite good but a little tame. The banana, orange, lemon, clove and wheat cracker play nicely off one another with a crisp clean finish.

Mixed feelings on this one. If the carbonation and flavors were turned up a notch I think I would like it a lot. As it is, I could see this being a satisfactory choice on a hot day. I'd definitely drink it again, but won't go out of my way to find it.

Bottle into pint glass.

A: Nice hazy brass body, with 4 finger head on pour that completely disappears.

S: Has the nose of a German wheat bier more than a blonde ale. Bits of banana, bubblegum, and clove. Nice light wheat malts and a hint of euro pale hops.

T: Along the same lines as the odor aroma profile. Very refreshing bier. I would recommend this on a hot summer day.

M: Light and refreshing.

O: Not a bad bier, try one on!

A - Straw, slight haze. Didn't stir the yeast cake up at the bottom. Maybe I should've. Fluffy off-white head, fades quickly. Very nice lacing throughout.

S - Coriander, pepper, citrus, lemon. spice.

T - Light biscuit, spice, orange.

M - Medium body. Not as light as other wheat beers. Medium carb.

O - I don't have a lot of experience with wheat beers, but this one seems to be a slightly above average.

Poured from a bottle dated enjoy by 11/26/13 into a pint glass.
Appearance - gold, almost yellow, very bubbly, fluffy white head with nice retention. Not much lacing.
Smell - sweet, lemon zest.
Taste - refreshing brew, very crisp and clean on the palate.
Feel - light, easy to keep sipping.
Overall - Hot Summer day, less than a buck 25 per beer...this is worth sharing with your lady and scoring brownie points!

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

I know when I reach for a tasty beverage, the first thing that comes to mind is "sweat"... Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises cracked wheat, banana peel, light orange peel, and a dash of muddled spices. The taste brings in more of the same, with a heavy bready component leading the charge. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a middling beer at best, one that just kinda sits there with little or no distinguishing character of its own. Sure, I suppose this could be used as a nice enough thirst-quencher in the Summer months, but it's just kinda bland for my tastes beyond that.

Pours hazy yellow with a white head that hangs around

Smells like bananas with a little bit of citrus. Very pleasant smell.

Taste was a bit of a let down. Not as much favor as the smell would suggest. Maybe It was a bad keg. A little bit of banana and citrus but not much.

Palate-Next to no carbonation.

Overall- A big let down. I got it from a bar that offered a ton of different beers to maybe it was a stale keg but I probably wont try this again.

12oz bottle, month past the freshness date

look is a very pale yellow, cloudy, almost no head after 5min. smell is banana, clove, pepper, the usual suspects, with a minty earthiness. taste/flavors are a little flat. not sure if it's because of the age or what.

might come back to this one at some point

A: Pours a hazy, milky gold with a fluffy, feathery white head. Head retention is quite good and there is a moderate amount of lace.

S: Aromas of green apple, unripened banana, minerals, lemon, herbs, grass, and wheat toast are present on the nose. In terms of smell, this ale is reminiscent of both a Bavarian weissbier and an American pale wheat ale.

T: Fruity notes of unripened bananas, unripened pears, and green apple are immediately evident, underscored by traces of wheat toast, minerals, lemon, lime, grass, and herbs. The finish is bready and crisp with notes of grassy, mildly citrusy hops and wheat.

M: Predictably light in body, very dry, and a bit chalky in the mouth. Carbonation is relatively crisp and intense. Very quaffable.

O: I'm not a huge fan of Boulder Beer, but this wheat ale is far from bad. Some may not like the slightly muddled character, but I kind of appreciate it. I would not go out of my way to find this again, but I wouldn't have a problem knocking back one of these if it were readily available.

Best Beer I have ever had, and it comes with a healthy kick too! I want MORE!! It is a spring beer that only comes around once a year, but I anticipate having this beer and beg my supplier to have it in stock for me. From the great, clean taste to the appearance and feel of this beer, it gets consistent high marks from me.

T: Wheat malts then sweetness and then a bit of spice some what doughy yet refreshing

M: Again it is refreshing not overly carbonated quite enjoyable to drink and easily drinkable in multitudes

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, best before 1/25/2013. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big lemon, banana, clove, wheat, pear, pepper, light bubblegum, earth, grass, floral, and yeast spiciness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance. Taste of lemon, wheat, banana, clove, floral, grass, orange zest, earth, coriander, light bubblegum, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of lemon, banana, wheat clove, light pepper, earth, grass, floral, light bubblegum, and coriander. Nice balance and complexity of flavors; a bit more watered down than I expected; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with nearly zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice wheat ale. Nice amount of hefeweizen flavor complexity and balance; and extremely smooth to drink. Definitely an enjoyable offering.

I know I've had this in a bottle at least a couple times, but this bar has nothing but Colorado beers on tap so I thought I would try this. Out really compliments the heavy hors doevers nicely.

It's mostly cloudy and yellow with a very weak head. The Tate is nice add yeasty as it should be. The overall impression is of a light to medium wheat. It is similar to the bottle and somewhat disappointing.

This beer recently took 1st place in the American Wheat category at a Brew fest in Rhode Island. Widmer Bros hefe came in second. Widmer Bros. hefe is my everyday favorite brew. So I had to give Sweaty Betty a try.... Not available in Utah I brought some home from a recent trip to AZ. This is a nice American Wheat. It has a hint of banana and clove, but not like a Bavarian style-hefe. It is more in the American wheat camp....smooth and not too spicy. It' s well worth a try if you like American wheats like Widmer, Pyramid, etc... If you're looking for a Bavarian style like Keller Weiss or any of the German wheats then it may not be spicy enough. If you're looking for a smooth American wheat with a just a hint of spice that goes down nice, then Sweaty Betty is a good choice. If it were available locally, I'd drink it regularly.
It also has a higher ABV at nearly 6 percent, but without the heavier spirit taste. You'd never know it from the taste. It goes down like a 4.8, so beware...it's smooth and w/. The higher alcohol content could pack a punch....

Poured from bottle into pint glass at buffalo wild wings in Hammond, LA. Aside from the typical Abita brew on tap, this was the extent of the craft beer selection - and this is one of two left in the cooler.
Pours a golden color with no head...it looks like the miller lite currently being consumed by the guy next to me. Very faint citrus fruity banana aroma, but mostly malt. Taste again is slight fruity malt with a hint of noble hops. Slight wheaty taste and feel. Some slight banana ish flavors. Its an ok brew, but I would never choose this over anything else...sad this is the only micro here...
I won't get again.

Pours a clear, golden body with a small, though dense, white head.

Aromas of soft white wheat and lemon citrus with a slight underlying note of yeast.

The tastes begins with pale, wheat malts with a tiny pop of sugared sweetness. As it warms you get some lemon-flavored candy and very minor, spicy hops and bitterness. Sip of cool, clean water.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Hints of doughy yeast with a light wheaty finish.

Overall this is just a thin bodied, slightly sweet, something wheaty beer, with few high points, even on a warm day.

Pours golden "blonde" into a pint glass with a frothy head that stays almost completely still as I drink it.

Smell is extremely pleasant. Banana first comes to mind with a slight hint of citrus. One of the best smelling wheat's I've come across.

Taste is very similar to smell. A hint of banana up front with hoppy and lemon notes. Little bit of a clove aftertaste for me. I love this stuff.

Mouthfeel is light but still passes my test. Great for drinking several of them at a time, you'll just keep going back for more.

Overall I can say this is definitely one of my favorite beers to date. I am a huge fan of wheat beers, though. For someone looking for an incredible amount of flavor you might want something else, but for an easy drinking and delicious beer you can't beat one of these. I'd love to try it on tap at some point.
