12 oz. bottle poured into pilsner glass.

Appearance: Cloudy goldenrod color (I had to rouse the yeast at the bottom of the bottle). Thin white head was disappointing and it didn't have much staying power.

Smell: Predominant aroma is yeast, quite strong. There is a peppery spice note, very faint, in the background.

Taste: Again, the yeast screams, but there is a slight fruity sweetness, but much less than a hefe. Mild yeasty hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Feels mostly medium body. Needs some more carbonation to be good.

Drinkability: Overall, a very neutral brew that finishes pretty clean.

12oz bottle

A—Strong bright yellow and mid-range cloudy, Average white head that quickly dissipates into top lace.

S—strongly citrus, grassy.

T—touch of lemon, stronger taste of wheat, soft grass taste at end of swallow.

M—light and refreshing, effervescent and bubbly. Wheat adds a nice character to the tongue without overpowering mouth.

D—very easy to drink beer. Excellent warmer weather beer.

Sweaty Betty from Boulder Beer poured a slightly hazy yellow topped by a disappointing short white head. The nose delivers good fruity smells. Banana and cloves are evident, but subdued. The flavor is sweet and a little fruity. Citrus and banana flavors emmerged, but were again subdued. Body was medium - light, and carbonation was moderate.

This was mild, easy drinking, and not too exciting. It was a decent lawnmower beer.

12oz bottle poured with vigor into Sam Adams glass

A: Golden and hazy. 1 finger white foam head quickly reduces to thin lace

S: lightly of clove honey, wheat and faint banana

T: hand in hand with smell but with edge of spiciness

M light, smooth with minimal carbonation. slight honey aftertaste

D: decent. I could have a few on a summer day but it wouldn't be a top choice.

Bottle poured into a standard pint glass. Very pale blonde, not much head and dissipates quickly.

Smells of citrus. Tastes of citrus--strongly. Not in an unpleasant way though. Slightly sour, but nice, aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

A bit watery, but otherwise, average mouthfeel.

Fairly drinkable--I could enjoy 2 or 3, but any more than that and the sweetness would be too much.

Poured into goblet

A: 1/2 finger of head, vanished almost instantly. Very light lacing. Some might say "sparse." An island of very light foam floated in the middle. Poured a hazy golden-yellow.

S: Estery--citrus and some clove. Enough citrus and spice to make me wonder why this is categorized as an American Pale Wheat ale. Armoa puts it squarely in the Belgian wit class....

T:... and the taste is squarely in the German-like class. This is pretty schizophrenic, as it has the aroma of a Belgian wit and the flavor of a German weisse. It's lightly fruity, with some banana notes, some clove, and some wheat breadiness. Finish is peppery with a nice mix of pepper, banana and clove. A very light bitterness finishes it off, which comes in abruptly.

M: A bit over-carbonated, even for the style--though I'm no longer sure that this should be held to the standards of any one style, since it's borrowing from a few distinct ones.

D: I could drink a few of these. It's maltier than a Belgian wit, it's lighter in its flavor profile than a German hefeweizen, and it's bolder in flavor than an American Pale Wheat ale. If you were to draw a Venn diagram of all three, this beer would take up the overlapping middle bit. It's refreshing and good for summer.

The name is really unappealing, though.

Appearance - Quintessential cloudy golden color with a decent head that lingered for a while.

Smell - A bit citrusy with a fair amount of spices.

Taste - The taste actually reminds me a bit of Hoegaarden. Light pear flavor with a bit of banana and a good amount of spice.

Mouthfeel - Medium body with a good bit of carbonation. Finishes very smooth.

Drinkability - Even though it tastes a bit fair, it finishes well, and leaves a good aftertaste. This has actually become one of my favorite wheat beers.

Slightly hazy, nearly opaque golden yellow, with just a tiny hint of copper. The white head was tiny, even after a hard pour. Little lacing. Smell is wheaty and pleasant, with slight hints of banana and lemon. Taste is sweet, lots of the wheat flavor, just a small hint of bitterness and lemon. This is right up there, next to paulaner Hefe-Weizen. This one isn't quite as fruity as paulaner's is, but absolutely great.

A - hazy and golden with a thin white head which subsided to a layer on top of the beer. I really like the color when held up to my computer monitor

S - wheaty with some citrus

T - some tarty citrus action up front followed by a more wheaty taste; the aftertaste is slightly tarty but I enjoy it and sort of feel like my mouth has woken up as this was my first beer today

M - light-medium body without much carbonation

D - not bad. A pretty light ale, but I bought this because (well, also I hadn't had it and couldn't pass it up as a result) I'm grilling this weekend and it will be perfect for being outside with friends. It's light and refreshing, and should make this partly cloudy day of temperatures in the low 80's a real joy. Highly recommended for summer drinking outside. Also, I feel like people who aren't into craft beer as much could enjoy this one pretty easily. Here's to summer!

Im not so sure this one is retired since I just got it on tap from Old Chicago yesterday, but oh well. This beer poured a pale yellow haze with a quickly dissolving head and a little lace. Smells of mostly lemon citrus and seems to taste that way to. I was not to thrilled with this beer but not let down it was just average

This beer poured to a very pretty gold color form a twelve oz. bottle.

There was a strong smell of wheat and corn, yes corn. I let it warm and the smell of corny type wheat got stronger. There is a twang, and I finally figured out what this smells like. A corn dog from a county fair.

The taste was quite the same as the smell. Wheet with a twang, very little complexity. There was a smoky wheat aftertaste that was somewhat cloying.

One real positive note was the excellent mouthfeel on this beer. It was very very good. Much better than the actiual taste of the beer.

This brew would probably go great with gourmet pizza or at a barbeque, I wanted to like this beer on its own, but I really didn't. I wish they spent more time thinking about what they were brewing, instead of coming up with fancy names and labels.

Have to confess that this was drunk straight from the bottle (yes, I know, unforgiveable) not something I normally do, so cannot really comment with any accuracy on the appearance or aroma. Regretably the circumstances under which I had this made drinking direct from the bottle the only choice! It appeared blonde and almost clear, though from what little I could tell, the aroma hinted at being fruity/malty and slightly sweet. The taste really surprised me, and seemed a lot sweeter and maltier than the usual American Micro beers, and reminded me - more than any other US beer has done - of the Belgium Beer style. Overall a sweet malty flavour, with hints of citrus and fruit in the finish, though light in texture and easy to drink. Not as rich and flavoursome as the better pale Belgium beers, but a good drink all the same. I could drink this easily, though it is maybe a shade too sweet to be a session beer for my taste, whereas the sweeter Belgium beer styles tend to have more body and depth, and are for savouring slowly rather than thirst quenching. Hope to have this again sometime and be able to have it served in a decent glass so I can properly appreciate its qualities.

Serving notes - 45F, served in imperial pint glass.
A - Wheat malt, spicy esters and some light banana phenols.
A - Finger and a half of bright white head that quickly dissipates to a film with some nice lingering fluffiness around the edges. Slightly hazy yellow.
M - medium to full body with low to medium carbonation.
T - Tangerine with the faintest hint of tartness on the front on the tongue and some banana from the aroma on the back. Slight peppery spiciness intermingles nicely with the phenolic flavors. Wheat malt nicely supporting all of this.
D - Very drinkable wheat beer.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a moderate white head and a lively carbonation which helps retain the head thoughout most of the brew. The nose is bright with mostly wheat- influenced flavors- aromas of banana, peach, white clove- and maybe a faint touch of hoppy flowers. The palate is medium-bodied and creamy with a smooth delivery and flavors of banana, lemon and vanilla leading to a moderate, fruity and mouthwatering finish. This isn't my favorite style, but it's done well for the style.

Sweaty betty Blonde. This beer didn't look like a wheat beer, it was very clear and had an odd acidic taste. Maybe this beer was handled poorly before I tasted it, but maybe not.

A This beer was poured by the bar keep and was super clear, so much so that it looked like an American pils. It had a big head that went away almost immediately.

S sweet estery smell.

T There is a little acidic green apple taste that has a puckering effect. It is unique and unlike other wheat beers.

M Thin a little malty sweet. Low carbonation.

O This is not my style. I like wheat beers, but prefer the banana flavors over the apple, it's a personal thing I know. It is worth a try, but I'm glad I don't have a six pack.

A: small white head that disapears quickly. Very little bubbles and no lacing. Cloudy and yellow in color.

S: Lemon, Banana, Merangue. Smells of a traditional german hef.

T: The flavors follow the nose, however, not as strongly. The flavor is a clean, traditional wheat beer flavor. Nothing blows me away here, but for the style, its above average.

M: Clean, light, good carbonation. Refreshing but nothing special.

D: I marked the drinkability as a 4, good, because again, for the style, it is above average and I could have quite a few of these (if in the mood for a light refreshing, summer beer)

Pours a light straw yellow with not much head to speak of. The taste has a nice wheat character with hints of banana throughout it. It also has a nice dry taste that makes it a great beer for a hot sunny day. Carbonation is fizzy but works well as a whole. Not my favorite style but its a decent beer for sure.

Smell - cloves, bananas, grain, nutmeg.

Drinkability - This broad would be good on a hot day, but the bananas may overwhelm some palettes.

S - 12 oz bottle. Date rubbed off, so I cant read it.

A - A hazy pale yellow, head dissipates to a thin surface tight at the edges.

S - Belgian-like spiciness, citrusy, banana, savory in there as well. Exceeded my expectations in a big way.

T - Spice, sweetness, tart. Very palatable. Tart orange and lemon. Not your average wheat.

M - Almost perfect in balance. Refreshing and crisp. Just an all around good beer.

D - I could finish 100 of these without breaking a sweat. A very good beer.

12oz brown bottle with no dates.

A: Pours an extremely pale and dull yellow. This defines straw colored. Tight carbonation of tiny bubble leaves a 1 finger white head that recedes to a thin layering.

S: Wheat comes through in droves; that coupled with the mild hop dosage gives it an American macro characteristic, maybe it's just the adjunct. Either way, it is crisp an inviting.

T/M: The palate is a lot more of the nose. A nice dose of hops gives this beer some great character and a cool crispness that lends itself well to hot summer days. The hops are grainy, perhaps a touch citrusy which nicely complements the wheat. Medium to light bodied with a nice amount of carbonation, even though the head is almost gone.

Strong wheat and banana ester aromas bubble out of this well carbonated brew. White head forms on the top of a beautifully hazy blond color. Wheat and banana flavors dominate the palate and are well balanced with just the right amount of spice. Smooth fruity finish fades gracefully away.

What a nice beer!

Pours out an extraordinarily pale yellow straw color with a thin white head and nicely conditioned carbonation that maintains.

Sweet malty wheat notes, slight hints of vanilla.

Nice vanilla notes also in the flavor, cut with a subtle acidity that prevents cloying sweetness. A little lactic tang as your palate gets used to drinking it. Nice, almost a Belgian flavor down deep here.

Light bodied, very easy just to pour down the gullet, which I did at first as it was my after-bike beer on a warm day here. Very satisfactory in the thirst-quenching mode.

Excellent hot weather brew. I'll definately grab more o' these next time around!
