A nice dark gold color greeted my beer but not much cloudiness. Decent head that died quickly but left a lace ring around the mug. Weak smell did not give me anticipation for this beer. Very faint clove notes and smelled more like a lime than lemon or orange peel or anything. The taste improved on the smell, thankfully, somewhat. A little weak but a smooth medium-bodied beer that had a little sweetness from the wheat mixed with a decent punch of citric notes, most noticeable was the orange. A little sharp in the backbite but not bad. A light summer beer that isn't bad, but not a standout or anything.

A: Very hazy golden straw color. Head poured with very large fizzy bubbles that dissipated very quickly, leaving some sticky lacing behind.

S: Straw, yeast, freshly cut grass, pale malt, and a slight hint of floral hops.

T&M: I immediately notice that the carbonation is too low. I expect something more effervescent for this flavor profile. There is a lot of the grassy straw taste represented in the nose, with some sweetness and slight hop bitterness. Corn and wheat flavors present throughout.

D: I wish the carbonation was higher on this, but it is still pretty drinkable. Smooth and subtle, but there is some complexity if you look for it.

Poured from the bottle a slightly hazy yellow color with two fingers of bright white head.

Aroma of cloves, bananas, and Belgian yeast.

The taste is definitely Belgian by design which caught me by surprise. Big taste of bananas, bubble gum, lemon and wheat. Finish is quite clean.

Medium bodied and very carbonated.

An interesting and very drinkable beer. Should make a nice beer for the summer months for sure.

Pour a very light yellow. Stong aroma of mashed banana. Whispy head that leaves some lacing. Flavor is crisp to start. Slight citrus, good carbonation, refreshing. The end is disappointing as it lacks the depth of flavor from other styles I've tried. I'll try it again to see if its just my allergies messing with my taste buds. Overall I think its a fair representation of the style. Cool artwork on the bottle.

A - This beer is a beautiful glowing beige/gold ...like yellow candle wax, it has a translucence despite it's opacity. Sadly, the head is flimsy and only reaches one finger for the first few seconds before turning into soapy dishwater. A small amount of foamy lace slides down the glass.

S - Funky wild yeast notes smell very barnyard-ish and almost nasty. I like nasty! This has orange and carrot juice notes....like V8 Splash or something, and there actually is a sweaty component to this nose.

T - Wow! I liked the nose, but the flavor is great. Orange and pineapple fresh fruit salad with those big funky yeast flavors that I loved in the nose. This actually reminds me very much of Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly.

M - Waxy, lightly carbonated, and heavy. These are actually odd feelings for the style, but I like it! The finish is all tropical fruit and Belgian yeast.

D - Killer. This is a killer, killer brew for the summer! I could quaff this stuff until I puke....not that I would do something like that, but I could.

12 oz bottle

Amazing pour! This unfiltered wheat ale really comes alive in your glass, up-end the bottle and your eyes are givin a real treat. Awesome folds, waves and loops of sediment stay suspended in the beer and slowly settle out. Nice 2 inch white head too. Betty has a solid white ale nose, definitely with some Belgian influence. Solid roasty wheat flavor, Belgian yeast and spicyness, some banana and bland citrus notes. Above average white ale body, very bright carbonation. This one is pretty damn drinkable and chewy. A good choice for the drinker who wants a white ale with a little bit of body and decent character.

Picked this one up at the store the other day, mainly because I had not seen it around before, and with it being 100 degrees outside. So I threw it in the fridge and opened it yesterday afternoon before dinner as it was just blazing hot outside. Served right out of the fridge and poured into a pint a pint glass.

Appearance - The pour was rather non eventful. A bright golden yellow, with great clarity. Nice three inch high head of white foam, fizzled out after just a few moments and then finally left behind nothing, no side glass lace to speak of either. Good carbonation bubbling up throughout the session.

Smell - The aroma was extremely light. Some floral hops, hints of lemon, and grass, and a touch of wheat were about all you were picking up. Had nice bright profile though.

Taste - The flavor was much more of the same, with a very bright, and appropriate for summer taste. There was a decent hint of orange rind and lemon in the back, with a nice rounded wheat flavor, nothing shocking or extraordinary here though.

Mouthfeel - The feel was very light and highly carbonated. Crisp, and clean with little in the way of aftertaste. Nice beverage for a hot day,

Drinkability - This ties in here as well, as it was just very light, with low abv and just that slightest bit of citrus to make it pop. It could have easily been something that you have multiples of for sure.

Overall not a bad summer beer, however I would have to pass on trying it again. Just not really up my alley as far as flavor. Nothing wrong with it though and as far as blond ales, not half bad.

A-Pours a hazy lemon yellow with a bit of thin white head.

S-Lots of clove, some citrus and some faint sweetness. Surprising, interesting, possibly in a good way.

T-Lemony and spicy. Kind of like if you made lemonade and soaked a ham in it for a couple of days. I am not crazy about this concept.

M-Light and summery, good bubbly carbonation.

D-I think one will do just fine, thank you.

Poured into a wheat glass pours a yellow with a serious white head that leaves some nice thick fat lace on the glass. Smell is of summer sweatyness with hints of lemon, tweed, earth and resin, spicy grape. Taste hits the palate, heavy carbonation, taste is a bit toned down I can taste a bit of hop in there, a bit of acid and a light taste of grapefruit. Overall not a bad offering but not a great one either, I could see myself drinking this again though, average at best.

L: Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a medium bodied but tall white head that settles to a small film over the beer.
S: It smells of sweet wheat malts and some citrisy flavors perhaps from the hops.
T: It has a sweet wheat taste underneath some citrisy flavors and then a touch of a more tart fruitiness at the end.
M: It is very crisp and refreshing with the right amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable in the summertime. Decent summer beer.

I do enjoy Hefe's and Pale Wheat Ale's so I may be a tad biased.

A: An extremely cloudy golden straw color. Minimal head. A decent amount of lacing.

S: Heavy banana smell, with some hints of coriander or clove.

T: Lemon, wheat, banana and spice all combed together. The banana hits first and the aftertaste is not overwhelmingly spicy but it is there.

M: Really crisp and smooth. Very light bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation

D: I could drink this type of beer frequently. It is a very well rounded American Wheat.

A - hazy and golden with a thin white head which subsided to a layer on top of the beer. I really like the color when held up to my computer monitor

S - wheaty with some citrus

T - some tarty citrus action up front followed by a more wheaty taste; the aftertaste is slightly tarty but I enjoy it and sort of feel like my mouth has woken up as this was my first beer today

M - light-medium body without much carbonation

D - not bad. A pretty light ale, but I bought this because (well, also I hadn't had it and couldn't pass it up as a result) I'm grilling this weekend and it will be perfect for being outside with friends. It's light and refreshing, and should make this partly cloudy day of temperatures in the low 80's a real joy. Highly recommended for summer drinking outside. Also, I feel like people who aren't into craft beer as much could enjoy this one pretty easily. Here's to summer!

Cloudy yellow body with some yeasties floating around. About a finger of white head that leaves some lacing.

Smells like lemon zest and wheat.

Taste follows nose. Not very complex, mostly lemon with wheat, a little bit of spiciness mixed in. A good refreshing beer, but nothing outstanding. Medium mouthfeel, lots of carbonation.

I'm a sucker for wheat beers as far as drinkability goes. I could down tons of these.

This brew pours a cloudy yellow color and has a marginal whitish head. The nose has some quiet citrus tones and wheaty malts. The taste is mostly wheat malts with again subtle fruit. The body is really light for the style and over carbonated. Needs lots of glass swirling to help go down smooth.

This beer was on sale which makes me wonder if it's old. Because it poured out pretty flat with no head. Hazy yellow with a small but steady stream of tiny bubble rising to the surface. I smell earthy clove funk and sour banana. Tastes as it smells but a bit better. Thick and somewhat heavy mouthfeel for the style. Not the best pale wheat. I've had many better.

Had this beer at the drafting room in Exton PA. Great name for a beer and certainly got me to try it! As for the taste, it was a wheat beer, but it tasted water downed compared to most...I guess it was the sweat from Betty in the beer. Would not even bother trying.

A: Poured a cloudy, pale lemon color with a half-finger soft, lustrious creamy white head that faded rather quickly. Beneath the cloudy turbulence you can sense vibrate nature of the carbonation.

S: Light tart lemons and a nice wheaty aroma which was very smooth and pleasant in nature graces the nose.

T: The initial flavor was much the same with tart lemons and wheat backing. The overall flavor was light, smooth with a great citrusy (lemon) nature along with light oranges and bananas sneaking through. Finishes with a great smooth subtle fade of lemon-wheat.

M: light and smooth with a great lemony tang and finish. The carbonation feels very light and soft on the tongue despite the vivid appearance.

D: A citrusy and refreshing drink that slides effortlessly off the tongue. Would be on of my top 5 choices for a summer time quencher. Case worthy by all means.

12 oz single bottle just recently purchased from Buy Rite on Oak Tree in South Plainfield...
Great seasonal release from Boulder...
An aggressive pour yielded a hazy, cloudy, straw-colored, golden hue with a minimal head that left a copious amount of lacing around the head of the serving glass...
Citrus-aroma was very noticeable, along with a heavy fruit-factor bursting through...
Taste was laden with wheat, citrus, fresh florals, ripe pears, apples, bananas, oranges, cloves, and coriander...
Creamy, thick mouthfeel made this one a pleasure to drink... Excellent level of drinkability to match... went down easily with no alcohol detectable and no cloying factors...
Good stuff and a great summer beer...

I grabbed this at the sterling Sun Singer on a nice warm day. In part, I've also been on a wheat kick, and this fit the bill. The presentation was decent, standard--thin white head over a light orange body, no discernible lacing. Good color, though.

The nose represented an improvement, full of fruit and a surprising bit of hops. The same with the taste. For a pale wheat, I expected the fruit to outweigh the hop gritty texture and taste. There was a very good balance in Sweaty Betty--grapefruit, apricot, and banana with a nice hop coating. Very nice.

Hops did much for the mouthfeel, which would have been thin to the point of precarious without the ample hop complement. Had I more time, I would have knocked back two more of these in a snap. Delicious and balanced, Sweaty Betty has a harsher name than the beer will ever realize. It's smooth, semi-sweet, not bitter, and great to kick back and enjoy on a hot day. Good stuff.

12 oz. single bottle that I picked up just because I needed another beer to complete my mixed sixer...

A- Light golden straw color- tiny thin little head- beer looks like a bright coors light to me.

S- Smell was nothing special either. Some spices and banana, but otherwise bland in the nose department.

T- Typical wheat beer flavors- hints of banana, orange, and clove.

M- Very light bodied- thin- and sleek.

D- Because of the watery nature of the beer, these would be easy to take down on a hot summer night. Lacks in the flavor department. Once again, another typical wheat beer.

Pours a slightly fogged straw with a minimal white head that falls quickly. Nose is strange. Kind of sour and weird. Flavor is strange too. Kind of an odd banana edge that is enough to notice, but really makes everything odd and unusual. Feel has a fairly full carbonation, but the liquid is thin. I don't really like this beer, but I know a lot of it has to do with my dislike of the style (said it before...saying it again). Too thin on the flavor and what's there just doesn't keep it interesting enough. Pass.

I ended up drinking this because my in-laws insisted it was terrible and having enjoyed other offerings from Boulder Beer, I had to see for myself.
No freshness info.

a: A crystal clear light gold, like a macro-lager. White head quickly subsides, no lacing to speak of.

s: Some lemon notes, not much else.

t: Lemon up front, some bitterness in the finish, don't taste any hops.
I think I see what they area complaining about, there is a strange sourness.
I don't know how to explain it exactly, it is somewhat tart and surprisingly acidic. Not sure if this is intentional or if this bottle is just past its prime.

m: Very light body.

d: The sourness/tartness and the acidity hurts the drinkability. It is a very light beer that doesn't have much flavor. What flavor is present is not particularly enjoyable. I don't know if it was just my bottle or not, but if this is how it always tastes, I would avoid it.

i had to crack her to see if she was a "natural blonde".... well, she is! poured a cloudy yet bright yellow, not much of a lasting head...

She smelled slightly bitter.... but to my surprise she tasted sweet, like liquid sunshine. i enjoyed the way she tasted.. good to the llast drop.... even perhaps a little fruity.. banana maybe...

seemed to be an extra carbonated wheat beer in my mouth... as for drinkability, i live in arizona where lightweight beers are a must in the summer (come on winter!!!) and this one will find a place in my fridge from time to time again.... i just cant tell anyone im tasting sweaty betty again!

Boulder- Sweaty Betty

Purchased at Joe Canals- Lawrenceville, NJ $1.29 for a 12oz bottle.

A- Bright cloudy fizzy yellow with a huge billowing white head.
S- Strong sweet hay and straw. Slight lemon zest.
T- Strong sweet lemony wheat with a touch of funky barn straw.
M- Sweet and light. Lemony in the end.

Overall- A thirst quencher. This can replace gatorade. Not bad.
