look: 2.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.5

A: Light, straw color. No head. I'll be honest, it looks like a Budweiser.

S: Clean, floral smell. Hints of wheat...

T: Light, get some fruity notes of apple up front, but some citrus notes of lime in the finish. Tangy, the acidity of citrus lingers. No hop flavors present, nor do I expect them to be.

M: Fizzy, carbonated - stings the tongue like soda.

D: It is definitely drinkable - easy to drink, decent flavors. Not a preference, however. Would drink again if offered, but probably not buying a six pack of this stuff... (530 characters)

A: Very light yellow color with a small head that dissipates rather quickly.

S: Not much going on there. I prefer wheat beer that you can really smell the wheat in it.

T: Not bad, but not great either. Could be little more wheaty, after all this is a Pale Wheat Ale.

M: Small bubbles. Slightly watery.

O: An average wheat beer that goes down smoothly on a hot summer day, but by no means one of the better wheat beers out there. (432 characters)

Pours a slightly fogged straw with a minimal white head that falls quickly. Nose is strange. Kind of sour and weird. Flavor is strange too. Kind of an odd banana edge that is enough to notice, but really makes everything odd and unusual. Feel has a fairly full carbonation, but the liquid is thin. I don't really like this beer, but I know a lot of it has to do with my dislike of the style (said it before...saying it again). Too thin on the flavor and what's there just doesn't keep it interesting enough. Pass. (513 characters)

This beer poured to a very pretty gold color form a twelve oz. bottle.

There was a strong smell of wheat and corn, yes corn. I let it warm and the smell of corny type wheat got stronger. There is a twang, and I finally figured out what this smells like. A corn dog from a county fair.

The taste was quite the same as the smell. Wheet with a twang, very little complexity. There was a smoky wheat aftertaste that was somewhat cloying.

One real positive note was the excellent mouthfeel on this beer. It was very very good. Much better than the actiual taste of the beer.

This brew would probably go great with gourmet pizza or at a barbeque, I wanted to like this beer on its own, but I really didn't. I wish they spent more time thinking about what they were brewing, instead of coming up with fancy names and labels. (832 characters)

Pours out a cloudly golden yellow with barely any white head. Not looking so great in this department.

Smell is pleasant, a lot of clove and lemony scents, and a tiny hop bit that comes through. Smell could be a little heftier, though.

Flavor is somewhat watery with lemony citrus, light clove, some banana, and a little hoppiness. Basically, it tastes just like it smells: someone bland with little bits of certain flavors watered down. Thin, fizzy carbonation.

Overall: I love a lot of beers in this style, but this one just doesn't have enough flavor to hold up to the better examples. Pleasant enough to drink, but there are much better choices. (660 characters)

A - a lemony yellow, hazy and cloudy, without mucha of a head, light but visible carbonation

S - a lemony wheaty aroma, with a spicy background like ginger or cloves, the lemon resemblance will become a trend here

T - again, it has a lemony-wheaty taste, with a sour zing in the middle, wihch fades leaving a corn flake aftertaste

M - kinda fizzy, but easy down, a nice wheat ale

D - moderate, a little to lemony-sour for me, but a quality brew (456 characters)

Pour a very light yellow. Stong aroma of mashed banana. Whispy head that leaves some lacing. Flavor is crisp to start. Slight citrus, good carbonation, refreshing. The end is disappointing as it lacks the depth of flavor from other styles I've tried. I'll try it again to see if its just my allergies messing with my taste buds. Overall I think its a fair representation of the style. Cool artwork on the bottle. (412 characters)

look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3

Appearance: Ever so slightly hazy, golden, airy one finger head.

Aroma: Citrus, hops, mild. Not as fresh an aroma as some of its peers have.

Taste: Fairly mild, creamy. Some citrus and floral flavours, but it's a light variety of a hefeweizen.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, smooth.

Overall: Fits very hot weather, as it's extremely light, but I'd like more flavour... (366 characters)

A very light yellow/straw colored beer . Has a small white head. The aroma starts with a strong yeasty note. With the wheat and banana notes in the background. The flavor is like a mild version of a Hefe- but there is an unpleasant corn on the cob sweetness that lays in the back of your throat on the finish. (309 characters)

A- nice looking hazed golden amber with an exceptionally firm and creamy eggshell colored head. foam doesn't retain itself as well as some of my favorite german versions but it's doing a decent job. lace is sticky and there's plenty of it in the form of well defined drippy rings.

S- somewhat hefeweizeny but with a twist of lemon and pineapple. some wheat aromas and a touch of sulfur as well. banana and clove notes hide way in the background keeping this one from being the bavarian style wheat i was expecting from the brewer's description.

T- light and pleasant, but without much yeast flavor the beer gets pretty bland. bready wheat flavors and a malty sweetness up front quickly fade leaving some leafy hop flavor and not much else. a little bit of candied pineapple gives this one a fruity edge. finishes more or less dry and clean with faint banana and cereal flavor.

MF- soft and smoothly carbonated with tight gently rolling bubbles lingering long on the tongue. wheat gives the body some structure and there's also somewhat of a menthol coolness.

D- an easy drinking and mild brew with some citrus character. it's nice for summertime- light, thirst quenching, refreshing, etc. but as far as being bavarian style i could appreciate a bit more yeast spiciness. (1,276 characters)

A: Very hazy golden straw color. Head poured with very large fizzy bubbles that dissipated very quickly, leaving some sticky lacing behind.

S: Straw, yeast, freshly cut grass, pale malt, and a slight hint of floral hops.

T&M: I immediately notice that the carbonation is too low. I expect something more effervescent for this flavor profile. There is a lot of the grassy straw taste represented in the nose, with some sweetness and slight hop bitterness. Corn and wheat flavors present throughout.

D: I wish the carbonation was higher on this, but it is still pretty drinkable. Smooth and subtle, but there is some complexity if you look for it. (648 characters)

Poured into my weizen glass a murky pale yellow with a decent-sized off-white head on top. Very little lacing sticks to the glass. Smells of bananas, light spices, and bread. The mouth was crisp and bubbly. A little wet, but not that bad. The flavor is a little zesty to start with, but it finishes bready and grainy. Sort of a Cheerio flavor going on. This is more like a Hefe rather than a Pale Wheat. Not bad, but a little different than I expected. Refreshing, nonetheless. (477 characters)

Bottle poured into a standard pint glass. Very pale blonde, not much head and dissipates quickly.

Smells of citrus. Tastes of citrus--strongly. Not in an unpleasant way though. Slightly sour, but nice, aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

A bit watery, but otherwise, average mouthfeel.

Fairly drinkable--I could enjoy 2 or 3, but any more than that and the sweetness would be too much. (385 characters)

From Notes:

A: Hazy, almost neon colored yellow, cloudy and unfiltered. 3.5

S: Very heavy on the yeast, lots of different aromas lemony/citrusy, wheat, almost like chapstick. 3.0

T: Very light, a lot of the yeasty flavors carry from the smell to the taste. Pale wheat malts. Pretty light and refreshing. 3.0

M: Thin, light and crisp. Clean finish. 3.5

D: Great summer session beer. I could drink a lot of these, not a bad beer at all. 3.5 (443 characters)

12 oz bottle, bottles 12/10, poured into SA Pint

A - Pale, somewhat hazy straw yellow with a scant, tight white head. Lacing and retention is minimal.

S - Light in the nose...mostly clove and coriander

T&M - Lighter bodied and crisp. Has the typical "softness" associated with higher wheat content. Clove and coriander from the nose carry through into the flavor. Faint hint of a spicy, peppery nature, with a touch of fruity sweetness in the finish. Aftertaste has a light yeasty chalkiness.

O - This is my second beer out of a Boulder Mix Pack, and I'm starting to sense a pattern. Is this an amazing beer or a shining example of the style? No. Is it highly drinkable and relatively enjoyable? Yes; in fact, I could see giving this to some non-craft beer drinking friends and probably have them enjoy it. (810 characters)

Bottle into pint glass.

A: Nice hazy brass body, with 4 finger head on pour that completely disappears.

S: Has the nose of a German wheat bier more than a blonde ale. Bits of banana, bubblegum, and clove. Nice light wheat malts and a hint of euro pale hops.

T: Along the same lines as the odor aroma profile. Very refreshing bier. I would recommend this on a hot summer day.

M: Light and refreshing.

O: Not a bad bier, try one on! (436 characters)

Picked up a six-pack of 12oz bottles at Fenwick Beer & Wine in Silver Spring, MD. Poured into a pint glass.

Pours with nice blond/golden color with thin head that keeps throughout. No lacing on the glass.

Smell provides hints of wheat, bananas, and a little lemon.

Taste is light with not as much spiciness that I would have expected from this style of beer. Though it hides its 5.9 ABV rather well. Overall it is pretty light and refreshing and makes a nice summertime drink. (479 characters)

This beer was on sale which makes me wonder if it's old. Because it poured out pretty flat with no head. Hazy yellow with a small but steady stream of tiny bubble rising to the surface. I smell earthy clove funk and sour banana. Tastes as it smells but a bit better. Thick and somewhat heavy mouthfeel for the style. Not the best pale wheat. I've had many better. (363 characters)

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, semi-opaque, golden, honey color specked with orange highlights and an eighth of a finger of white head that completely dissolved away into no head what-so-ever.

Aroma: Very aromatic with notes of toasted wheat, imparting aromas of whole-wheat crackers, and unsweetened breakfast cereal. I also get lots of notes of lemon and orange-like citrus, banana, honey, coriander, black pepper, clove, sage and thyme, as well as bubblegum.

Taste: Decent. Like a traditional wheat beer should. Toasted wheat up front, followed by honey-like sweetness, orange and lemon-like citrus, banana, clove, coriander, black pepper, and some strong wheat beer yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium/medium-thin bodied, and very smooth, as there is no carbonation what-so-ever. With an ABV of 5.9%, there is no alcohol on the palate.

Overall: Boulder’s Sweaty Betty is a decent beer. It has the traditional flavors of a wheat beer, which is why I’m not a huge fan of it. Fans of wheat beers should really like this beer though. (1,078 characters)

12 oz. single bottle that I picked up just because I needed another beer to complete my mixed sixer...

A- Light golden straw color- tiny thin little head- beer looks like a bright coors light to me.

S- Smell was nothing special either. Some spices and banana, but otherwise bland in the nose department.

T- Typical wheat beer flavors- hints of banana, orange, and clove.

M- Very light bodied- thin- and sleek.

D- Because of the watery nature of the beer, these would be easy to take down on a hot summer night. Lacks in the flavor department. Once again, another typical wheat beer. (587 characters)

12oz bottle poured with vigor into Sam Adams glass

A: Golden and hazy. 1 finger white foam head quickly reduces to thin lace

S: lightly of clove honey, wheat and faint banana

T: hand in hand with smell but with edge of spiciness

M light, smooth with minimal carbonation. slight honey aftertaste

D: decent. I could have a few on a summer day but it wouldn't be a top choice. (378 characters)

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance –Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a one finger head. The head fades slowly over time to give a fair amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma was heaviest of bread with lighter notes of caramel and some yeast. Mixed with this was a very light lemon citrus hop aromas as well as some banana.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter malt taste with strong caramel and wheat tastes. As the flavor advances the sweetness fades slightly with notes of a lemon hop flavor coming to the tongue. This takes the taste to the end were it mixes with yeast and banana flavors to leave a satisfying flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeeel – The brew was on the average side in body with a medium level of carbonation. Both are fitting for the flavors but nothing spectacular.

Overall –Very easy drinking, but a little subtle and boring for the most part. (895 characters)

From notes. Poured a hazy straw color wit ha small head that fell to nothing at all over the brew. The nose was orangey nd lemony with light wheaty notes. I found the flavor to be rather bland. Just nota lot going on in that one at all. The feel was light moderate with a moderate carbonation. Overall impressions were nothing of note. A fairly average brew. Pedestrian. (370 characters)

From 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass

A - slightly hazy golden w/ a single finger head that doesn't have much retention and only very slight lacing

S - banana, clove, wheat malts and perhaps a spot of peaches??

T - a bit one dimentional, kinda thin in the flavor dept. wheat malt mostly, w/ slight clove spiciness(very slight)and also bananas. not bad overall just not much happening

MF - full fizzy and highly carbonated - very pleasant. others might find the high carb. a bit much, i found it very refreshing.

D - decent, nothing too extreme makes this a perfect warm weather beer. (587 characters)
