Pours a hazy yellow color, some carbonation, small head, some lacing. Scents of citrus, and wheat. Nice taste for a wheat ale, dry, but kinda flat. Light body. Very drinkable for sure, not too sure about the ABV, nice taste. Would recommend, but will probably not buy again. (274 characters)

Pours a cloudy, yellow color. 5/4 inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of earthy malt, biscuit, lemon, and some tart malt. Fits the style of an American Pale Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and slightly thick with a average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight lemon, yeast cleanliness, some biscuit mustiness, and slight hop in the background. Overall, a good bodied beer with a slightly off aroma, but still worthy of a try. (468 characters)

A – Pale banana yellow. Thin white head.

S – Yeast, hay, wheat. Just a hint of banana sweetness.

T – Tastes like a light hefeweisen. Banana, wheat, orange zest. Lime-like acidity on the backend. Touch of coriander.

M – Light body. Shade watery. Underwhelming carbonation. (282 characters)

12oz bottle purchased as a single from Julio's, Marlboro, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1" white head over the clear light golden brew. Head lasts nicely, with heavy lacing. Aroma is cloves and wheat character. Taste is sweet malts upfront, with the clove kicking in after a minute, and lingering in the mouth. Mouthfeel is to-style smooth, and drinkability is good, but limited slightly by the possibly over-sweet start. (444 characters)

When I first tried this beer a couple years ago (before I started reviewing) I remember thinking, "Damn, whatever Betty's got in her diet, makes her sweat nasty". So, when it showed up again at a local I gave her a clean slate and a fresh chance.

Served in a straight pint glass. poured a cloudy, pale, yellow with an inch of fluffy white head that had medium retention and low lacing.

The aroma was semi-bitter and had a low wheat presence. It didn't have a malt or hop presence either. The flavors were very similar, a little bitter, not much charater otherwise.

The body was thin and dull. Drinkability is on the level of sour water, you drink a lot of it, but why? Overall, this is a fairly unpleasant beer. Not really mean or terrible, just not welcoming or enjoyable.

Betty hasn't improved her diet, her sweat is still funky, and not in the good way. (860 characters)

A: Poured a cloudy, pale lemon color with a half-finger soft, lustrious creamy white head that faded rather quickly. Beneath the cloudy turbulence you can sense vibrate nature of the carbonation.

S: Light tart lemons and a nice wheaty aroma which was very smooth and pleasant in nature graces the nose.

T: The initial flavor was much the same with tart lemons and wheat backing. The overall flavor was light, smooth with a great citrusy (lemon) nature along with light oranges and bananas sneaking through. Finishes with a great smooth subtle fade of lemon-wheat.

M: light and smooth with a great lemony tang and finish. The carbonation feels very light and soft on the tongue despite the vivid appearance.

D: A citrusy and refreshing drink that slides effortlessly off the tongue. Would be on of my top 5 choices for a summer time quencher. Case worthy by all means. (874 characters)

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with a small head. Smell is of citrus and spices. Taste like it smells, spices and citrus, quite delicious. Feels full bodied in the mouth and is very drinkable. Overall this is a high quality brew. (259 characters)

Cloudy sun yellow. Thin white head leaves a good amount of lace. This one's good on the nostrils. Lemon, citron, tangy wheat, hay... Very pleasant. Not as much to talk about on the buds though. Still decent enough, but the lively tones on the nose don't translate to the palate. Dulled wheat tones and a little lemongrass. Just a little spritz of hops that give the beer a slightly dry finish. Mouthfeel is not quite as active as I'd like in a Wheat brew, but not a lot else to complain about. Body is a little better than medium. This one's not too bad. I'd hit it up again. (575 characters)

A: Bright, clear straw/gold color. Poured a 2 finger rocky white head with good retention; was an aggressibe poir. Thin, sticky lacing. Decanted continually.

S: Wheat malt, light floral hops and citrus ; very clean (almost too clean)

T: Light fruity taste up front, the bready wheat, ciitrus and light clove. Not too complex.

M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Crisp and fizzy.

D: Easily drinkable. Decent flavors, certainly nothing offensive - just nothing special either. (476 characters)

A bright gold pour, 1/2" head, admirable the way it tried to stick around. A lemony aroma, but not much else to speak of.

Easy going taste, discernably wheat, mild flavors of banana and lemon, grass. Hopping is prolly around 30 ibu. Relatively balanced, mildly sweet, a little metallic bitterness creeps into the mouthfeel, what was once a small dallop of tartness gets progressively more aggressive as the metal exerts itself. Made me wonder if this was part of the weird pallet of boulder beer come into Reno recently. (521 characters)

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked Oct 07 2010 and sampled on August 17, 2010. The pour is pale yellow and very cloudy with a thinner but slightly foamy white head that never quite fades. Banana, wheat, and yeast aromas are the first to greet the nose. The taste is about the same with a comforting fresh hop ending. Really not all that bad and fairly easy to drink. (365 characters)

Pours a light golden color with a one-finger head into my glass. A bit cloudy but not much.

Aroma is full of wheat, citrus and a bit of clove. Standard for the style and they show in the nose, which is critical.

Taste is light and citrusy with a good hint of wheat and clove upfront. Tasty. Clean and inoffensive.

Mouthfeel does feel a bit odd though. The wheat leaves a bit of veggie taste (not sure how to describe it) toward the middle-end of the mouth. Probably my taste buds are a bit off. Otherwise, it tastes like a standard american pale wheat ale with lingering clove and citrus as well.

Not bad. I like it and it's easy to drink and could be sessionable as well (675 characters)

Appearance- Very pale banana skin hue with crappy bubbling and terrible head retention.

Smell- Pretty lager like for a wheat ale. Makes me think of adjuncts mixed with wheat. Hints of bananas and some bubble gum. But very fleeting.

Taste- Starts with really clear malts with a wheat chaser. Finish a refreshing yet sub par blonde ale flavor. (349 characters)

Pours a clear, golden body with a small, though dense, white head.

Aromas of soft white wheat and lemon citrus with a slight underlying note of yeast.

The tastes begins with pale, wheat malts with a tiny pop of sugared sweetness. As it warms you get some lemon-flavored candy and very minor, spicy hops and bitterness. Sip of cool, clean water.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Hints of doughy yeast with a light wheaty finish.

Overall this is just a thin bodied, slightly sweet, something wheaty beer, with few high points, even on a warm day. (571 characters)

A - Clear yellow in color with an inch and a half of foamy head. Carbonation looks good.

S - Smells of light grain, sweet malts, banana, clove... wtf? Is this a hefeweisen? Even the yeast smell is there

T - Not bad for a pale wheat. Expected just hops with slight heavy grain or wheat but got some sweet overripe banana and a bit of spicy yeast. Surprised the hell out of me (How did they do it without the hazy color?)

M - Pretty much the best part really light to medium which is pretty nice for the ABV

Overall wow to surprised those expecting to review to style? Fail for the brewery. But for a guy expecting the typical blonde. It drank rather well. Kudos guys this is a nice brew. (690 characters)

The beer pours forth from the 12-ounce brown bottle sets in the glass a slightly chill hazed straw color, the head smallish and white, the texture semi-creamy, as it erodes faster than the speed of light, the left over lace a thin sheet that conceals the glass. Nose has a fair wheat aroma, fresh and crisp, also a bit of malt sweetness, start is lightly sweet, grain profile adequate; the top feels light to the palate. Finish is spiny in its acidity, the hops light but present, quite dry aftertaste, not a bad beer, hits the spot on this hot Arizona day. (557 characters)

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a pale yellow color and a cloudy consistency. Very small amount of head that dissipated quickly.

S: Extremely sweet smelling beer, with elements of citrus, wheat and spices in it. There was also a slight funk about it as well.

T: Like the smell, a little on the sweet side. Lemon, wheat, banana and some assorted spices. Okay, but not great.

M: A fair amount of carbonation and a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

D: All in all, this is an alright beer, but not something I'd come back to. The sweet quality of the taste is a little to cloying, but there is a decent amount of complexity to it. (641 characters)

A nice dark gold color greeted my beer but not much cloudiness. Decent head that died quickly but left a lace ring around the mug. Weak smell did not give me anticipation for this beer. Very faint clove notes and smelled more like a lime than lemon or orange peel or anything. The taste improved on the smell, thankfully, somewhat. A little weak but a smooth medium-bodied beer that had a little sweetness from the wheat mixed with a decent punch of citric notes, most noticeable was the orange. A little sharp in the backbite but not bad. A light summer beer that isn't bad, but not a standout or anything. (607 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a Weiss glass. Jun1509. A month late. What's the worst that could happen?

A - Hazy yellow straw/gold with a white, long-lasting foamy head. Great retention but very little lacing left on the glass.

S - Rich aroma of lemon, banana, and earthy clay. Wheats and clove in the background, and thankfully, no salty sweat. Pretty true to style.

T - Wheat heavy with a lemon zest that washed away quickly with light clove, super-light banana, and a funky sourness to the finish, that, with a name like Sweaty Betty, really scared me.

M - Smooth but crisp and light. That weird thing at the end is really killing it right now. The sweaty in the name sure-as-hell isn't helping me.

D - I think I may actually pour it out in favor of something without a really funky/gross finish. I can't imagine that one month late would really create something like this in the beer. I've had older beer (4 years too old) and it was still good.

[Note: I actually put half of it in the glass back in the fridge and came back to it an hour later. It's still really gross on the finish.] (1,090 characters)

Fairly strong aroma is wheaty and yeasty with just a touch of lemon. It pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a fluffy and none too persistent white head. Flavor is wheaty with a hint of citrus, slightly yeasty, not all that inspiring. Flavor is smooth and fairly tingly, sometimes just a tad watery. (302 characters)

12 oz bottle with a bottle stamp of NOV2509. Pours a very light yellow with a light and airy white foam. Retention is ok and it leaves a little bit of lace.

Nose is kind of a cross between a wit and a hefe...bananas, some cloves, lemony wheat and some sort of a coriander-like aroma. I am digging on the smell of this beer. Very nice.

Very light-bodied refresher that has quite a bit of flavor. The aroma of the beer says hefe more than the taste. There is a touch of cloviness, but the crisp wheat is the main flavor. The light mouthfeel of the beer even allows some mild hop notes through. A pretty good beer that I would drink some more of, I like the name and the label as well. (684 characters)

Notes are from last weekend.

Betty's a bit pale, something of a pale yellow-gold color. The head is soft and by no means permanent, but there's enough of a foam the rest of the way and thin, light lacing to just push this past mediocre.
Wheat forms a backbone in an otherwise surprisingly hops-intensive(for the style) aroma with lemon zest and an interesting yeast note. The hops aromas are spicy and citric.
The flavor is a little paler, with more of the yeast coming up front and a banana note I wasn't expecting. Wheat retreats to the background in here so more of the citrus and spice comes out. Still pale, though.
The body is light and, with a moderate carbonation and a good crispness, this one is pretty refreshing. (725 characters)

Hazy light golden color with a very thin and fizzy but lasting white head. No lacing to be found. The aroma is a little fruity along with mild hops. Light-bodied and bubbly with fruit and wheat flavors. Kind of a watery texture too. The finish is short and lemony. I am against any beer that makes reference to something secreted from the human body. Even without that this is a below average beer. (398 characters)

Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, dry coriander and cinnamon. In the taste, cinnamon and a lemon zest. A spicy bite, with a medium to light mouthfeel, and a dry spice to clean aftertaste. Nice spices and easy to drink and decent. (254 characters)

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance –Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a one finger head. The head fades slowly over time to give a fair amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma was heaviest of bread with lighter notes of caramel and some yeast. Mixed with this was a very light lemon citrus hop aromas as well as some banana.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter malt taste with strong caramel and wheat tastes. As the flavor advances the sweetness fades slightly with notes of a lemon hop flavor coming to the tongue. This takes the taste to the end were it mixes with yeast and banana flavors to leave a satisfying flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeeel – The brew was on the average side in body with a medium level of carbonation. Both are fitting for the flavors but nothing spectacular.

Overall –Very easy drinking, but a little subtle and boring for the most part. (895 characters)
