Nice deep brownish black in color with tinges of red towards the edges of the glass. Minimal carbonation and off white lacing.
I love the smell. The oak aging gives this like a floral nose with whiffs of baking spices. I also notice sight charring.
With the first sip, I was looking for the "floralness" that I smelled earlier but it was gone. Replaced by the typical roasted malts, toffee and a little bit of bakers chocolate. The flavors drop off to a slightly sour mocha and alcohol on the back end. Flavors didnt change much with increase in temp.
Good smooth mouthfeel from the oats. very drinkable. Overall, a good barrel aged oatmeal stout. I recommend this one if you feel like an easy drinking stout and not in the mood for a heavy monster.

one of the most oaky examples of this style I have encountered. thin and inky black in color, this beer doesn't have a ton of head, but what it does have is an incredible nose. it smells incredibly oak forward, almost more so than that dark roasted barley or alcohol I smell musty oak, deciduous and pungent. it carries over to the flavor too, but instead of complimenting the stout itself, it sort of takes over. the thinness of body also exacerbates this issue, which gives me a watery feel but a very intense woody flavor, an odd sensation on my palate. bitter in the finish with just a touch of toasted coconut island style flare in there, but there just isn't the depth here of some of the worlds best Russian imperials. I like the intensity of the oak, but it limits drinkability, especially when this warms up. o good beer overall though, and one of boulder beers best offerings really.
