From old, undated notes. Poured from the bottle.

Black liquid; slight purple hues when held to the light.

Big khaki head; thick lace.

Oats, cream & coffee in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

A chocolate-y stout; the oak flavor makes this a touch chalky but this is very drinkable.

Almost black pour here, very dark brown, full inch of tan head, looks good, solid retention. Aroma was mild oak smoothness and a little bit of roast. No dark fruit bitter notes, thankfully.

Boozy alcohol in this one, would think with oatmeal and oak that it would absorb a little bit of that heat, but pretty much it was all there. Some toffee like notes as well. The price is a little up there in the bomber format, it might be a decent pick up in the 12oz/6pack format, if the price per oz came down. Until then, not a repeat purchase. There's just far too many better oatmeal stouts out there.

Bottle dated 2/8/10, so a nice five years on it. The first thing that I really noticed was the thickness, this is medium bodied at best. It's a very dry stout with a lot of toasted malts, burnt chocolate, coffee, and a hint of oak that really struggles to distinguish itself between all of the roasted flavors. However it's got alot of good flavors so it wasn't a bad buy.
