12oz brown bottle into a pint glass with date (presumably born on) inked onto bottle.
A: Pours an amber reddish brown. I know that's not a great description, but it ain't brown and it ain't red. Nice frothy head on top that is just off white. Lacing stays around for a while.
S: Cascade hops. I'm not sure I could have pinpointed the particular variety, but the bottle serves as a nice advertisement. 5 additions of the herb and at least one of them was extremely late (if not after) boil additions. A nice caramel malt backbone balances the nose.
T/M: The hoppy bitterness grabs you from the front and never lets go. I don't pick up the citrus you would expect from the cascades. A nice dose of roasted coffee (almost espresso) in the follow through which eventually closes out with all 6.8% of the alcohol. All in all a crisp beer that is slightly heavier in body than I would have expected from Boulder. Well carbonated to keep the medium body afloat.
This beer has a bitter back that was a bit much for me. It had the bitterness, heck, it even had the nose, but lacked the flavor.
