A nice looking brew. A clear and deep hued mahogany body covered by a thick, luscious pale tan head. Great retention, started as three fingers worth, and after a couple of minutes is down to half a finger and leaving sticky tendrils of lace inside the glass as it slowly subsides.
A cascade or perhaps cavalcade of cascade hops greet the nose with grapefruity and piny character. Toffee most apparent from the malts, and there are some apple like esters thrown in the mix for good measure.
Nice, the biscuit form the malts is more apparent in tasting, as is a brown sugar note. Other than that its pretty straightforward and as described for the smell.
Almost medium bodied, fairly smooth and slick feeling, and slightly resinous form all the cascades. Lightly carbonated.
Pretty drinkable stuff. Glad i got to try this, thanks to raider for bringing this my way. As an anniversary ale i dont know if or when this will come back, but if it does id be more than happy to have another flashback...

Sampled last night on 12/18/13. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a brandy snifter.
Pouts a dark reddish-brown in color with a small off-white head. Some lacing was seen when sipped. The aroma is of strong roasted malts. The taste was..well very bitter with a harsh strong 'hoppy' aftertaste which lingered for way to long. Tried it again a few minutes later and wasn't any better at all. After two more sips, I had had enough as it was way to hoppy of a harsh bitter aftertaste for me and poured the rest out.
