Served very cold in a pilsner glass.
A- The reason I gave this is a 4.5 is because of the exceptional head that formed. I know I am a great pourer ;) but I wonder if the fact that I poured it cold into a frozen glass changed it at all. There was a 2-finger, very thick head that formed, with excellent retention. Colors were appropriate, amber, more reddish than orange, reminds me of fall!
S- Hmm...I get the hops which is on par, but for the most part I get some funky smells. Nothing too bad, but it would be the biggest setback to this beer.
T- A very yummy beer. I used to be obsessed with hops, and now I'm onto more porters, stouts, ales and the like, but this was a great well-balanced beer. I was expecting more malts, chocolate and sweets, but if you try and find them they are there. More like a pale ale to me, but with a little more body. Nice.
M- This beer feels nice inside that taste-hole of mine.
D- Yes! I do enjoy this beer. Picked up a 6 pack, and I am glad I did. Normally an IPA or pale ale is too bitter to drink much of, but considering this is 6.8% abv, the above average usage of malts tones the bitterness down and makes it a more balanced, but still hefty beer. I could probably drink 2 of these before getting a bit overwhelmed. With that said, after 2 of these I would feel nice and loose and would probably stop counting.
