22oz bomber.
A) Pours with a big, two finger head. Settles fairly quickly to a big bubble lacing on top. Slight haze in the body. Amber-copper in color.
S) Subtle blueberry. Grainy. Grassy.
T) Light blueberry taste. Wheaty but like a hefeweizen. The overall flavor is weak. In the aftertaste a lingering tartness.
M) Light body. Fizzy.
O) An average brew. I wouldn't consider this again but would drink it in a time of need.

Shared by ihearcraftbeer at a tasting.

A - Clear, not much head, and unfortunately a brassy color (one might expect a purplish color).

S - Not very appealing. A bit skunky and herbal. Not getting blueberry on the nose.

T - Kinda not good tasting. About as eloquent as I can be about this beer... not much blueberry flavor, though an odd sweetness and fake grape juice flavor are there though muddled and intermittent.

M/O - Slick going down and more crisp than I anticipated. While I could see where some might want this as a lighter summer beer, this simply was not my cup o' tea.

THis beer poured out as a copperish color with a thin white head on top. The head fades and leaves no real lacing. The smell of the beer had some funky blueberry aromas to it that weren't overly appealing to me. The taste of the beer was decent but really not anything too special. The mouthfeel was on the thinner side and lacked the softness of most wheat beers. Overall it wasn't the greatest blueberry wheat beer out there. I'd say try a sample before ordering a whole glass.

From A bottle into a weizen glass.

A: Pours a crystal clear copper color with a hint of purple. (I was expecting it to be a little cloudy being a wheat beer). The head started off with 1 inch of white goodness that quickly dissapated into almost nothing. It has very little lacing.

S: This doesn't smell like a wheat beer. I smell malt and faint blueberries with a touch of citrus.

T: With the first sip the beer starts off like a light, amber ale with a mild blueberry flavor but falls short after that. It lacks any real defining character. It's like someone brewed an average beer and dropped some blueberry extract in it. It has almost no finish whatsoever.

M: Very Astringent, almost gritty.

O: I can understand what the brewer was going for but they fell short. It needs more blueberries and less filtering! The bottle reads "blueberry wheat beer". It has no qualities of a wheat beer. I was expecting a lot more.

Served on tap in a shaker pint glass at Delaneys in New Haven CT.

Pours a medium amber with a little foam. Not much lacing. Purplish tint.

Fruity nose, tart blueberry taste that remains in the malt. Not sweet and not overwhelming. Berry in the background, and adds to the flavor.

Blends well, balanced nicely.

Good beer.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Playing Miles Davis- "Kind of Blue" as I review :)

Appearance: Deep amber orange with a lot of bubbles and a decent two finger white head that has good retention and a light amount of lacing.

Smell: Bready Pils malts, wheat, and grains make up most of the aroma. Blueberry fruit smell is noticeable but very mild. A very light hint of grassy hops in the background. Aroma is mostly sweet and bready.

Taste: Sweet pale malts and some wheat grains dominate the taste. A mild flavor of blueberry fruits linger throughout. Blueberry is more noticeable in the finish. No noticeable hop bitterness. Taste is fairly bready and sweet.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a low to medium level of carbonation. Very smooth and creamy.

Overall: A decent beer overall that isn't overbearing on the sweetness which is a problem I find in a lot of fruit beers. That said I still think the blueberries could of been a little stronger.

Proper American barbeques usually feature at the very least a choice of desserts, maybe two or three. Better would be a sampler tray. Best is when the desserts take up a table larger than the grill. I found myself in just such a situation, staring down an assembly of sweets and sugars that added a few more courses to my outdoor meal. The fruits were sweet, the brownies expertly browned, but my final dessert came as a surprise. The Boulder Beer Blueberry Wheat was a surprising conclusion to a parade of sweets, holding its own against the chewables. The aroma is surprisingly thick; many fruit beers have a thin vapor of fruit, but the Boulder Beer Blueberry Wheat was passionately blue and berry. The body is thin, leaving room for the acidic fruit flavor, which starts strongest with the early sip, but keeping a strong consistency through the aftertaste. The blueberry really does feature as the central flavor of this beer, delivering a bright, Spring flavor on a backdrop of clean, wheat flavor. Beers that graft fruit flavors to some light beer style tend to disappoint, but this is a very welcome exception.
