Pours from the can a beautiful honey colored, clear liquid with an almost creamy, off-white head as thick as your little finger. Retention is extremely good and the lacing left behind is formidable, lasting until it dries in place.
Smell is a bit weak overall with some wood, some hops, some malt. Balanced well, but hard to suss out details.
Taste is better presented, much like an English pale ale, more muted than the American style. Notes of citrus hops, malt, wood, faint floral/herbal. Balance is good.
A drying finish, warming slightly after the swallow. A resinous aftertaste lingers gently long afterwards. Overall, a pretty good example in my estimation. Not overly hopped like most American pale ales, very drinkable.
