Served in a 22 oz. perfect pint glass at the Winking Lizard in Columbus.

A - One-and-a-half finger taupe head of thick, creamy foam that falls rather quickly and then leaves the last 1/4" sitting on the surface. Beer is a deep, dark brown that appears opaque until held to a light, then it shows that it's clear throughout.

S - Faint nose of toasted malt with a little butterscotch and toffee. Soft caramel shows up deeper into the glass. Really have to work at getting flavors out of the glass.

T - Nicely toasted and roasted malts with a slightly burnt quality. Molasses and dark caramels, hints of sugar comprise the finish. There's also a subtle dark breadiness with a hint of dark fruit. Also, just a touch of chocolate. No discernible hops.

M - Moderate carbonation. Fizzy. Lightish body with nicely integrated structure. Dry, short finish.

O - Outstanding session beer with a focus on the malts, not hops. Surprisingly dry for what finish there is. The WL reports that this beer was a GABF gold medal winner in 2010, and it's easy to see why. Tasty and refreshing without being either heavy or boozy. Hope to be able to find this in bottles sometime.

I just found my notes from The Attic a while back.

I think Business Time is the darkest Mild I've seen, so dark brown it's practically black. A creamy off-white to tan head sits at one finger and stays, leaving behind rings and patches in a good amount of creamy lacing.
The first thing noticeable in this beer is a fruitiness; dark fruits almost burst out of both the aroma and the flavor. Malts are of the stronger, darker variety with just a touch of roast. Mild, yes, but a good example of what it ought to be as it has just a touch of herbal hops but it more malt-forward, as well as being flavorful without being big. This beer is also completely sessionable, and epitomizes the term perfectly.
This beer showcases a light to medium body with a crisp nip and an underlying smoothness. I could sit here and sip this all day.

Served on tap into a nonic glass for the Winking Lizard's Glass of the Month

A- Poured a dark brown with some reddish hues with a soapy light brown colored head that left lots of clunky lace

S- Robust aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, toffee, and barley for a 4% beer.

T- Pretty big chocolate taste, big roasted barley flavor, and some toffee. Very balanced, but also flavorful for a session ale.

M- Pretty creamy up front with fairly high carbonation on the finish with medium body. In a blind taste test I would guess this was 6.5 ABV and not 4. It is a pretty drinkable beer, but not as drinkable as you would expect for the style.

O- Overall this beer is very flavorful and robust for a 4% ABV beer, but it also drinks like a bigger beer so I don't see myself sessioning this beer. It tastes and drinks like a good porter.
