Situated a 20 minute walk from my student halls, this place is the only off license I go to (with Tesco being so near)
The selection is pretty immense, the 'usual' (but still rare for a UK off license) Belgians such as Orval, Westmalle, Rochefort, Gulden Draak and Piraat as well as a few Geuzes such as Boon. A smaller German selection with a few Oktoberfest beers and Weizens present. Next to this there is a large wall of British ales, with local gems such as Rhymney, as well as others from around the UK such as Williams Bros, Orkney, Traquair, Thornbridge, and many more (seriously alot more) There is also a small but growning section of American ales, with offerings from the likes of Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada, Anchor and Odell. They were also taking a delivery of beer when I was there for the first time, so the selection is ever changing and ever growing. A very nice selection of spirits as well. Edit: expanding stock e.g. Arbor, Moor, Buxton, Magic rock, Maui, Bear Republic
As for pricing it is all about the same prices as Beers of Europe, so okay value, though a few, including the Oktoberfest beers were noticeably more expensive, some by up to a pound. Edit: prices here seem to have risen less than in other places making it more reasonable
A very nice lady on the till, though there is also a charge to use a debit/credit card. Edit: spoken to the man who appears to run the show. Very helpful and seems to have a real passion for good beers.
This is basically your regular run-by-a-friendly-indian-family corner shop, with an immense selection of beer, the best i've seen in Cardiff. Edit: probably the best in Wales and better than alot of places in England.
