Zippy. Forward bitterness covering some underlying dark sweetness, which together tastes a bit conflicting. Nice aroma that is barely noticeable. Thin body and head. Small amount of lacing. Convincing and unsubtle at what it's going for, but lacking all of my preferred qualities. Seems overrated compared to more pleasing, balanced, and nuanced IPAs I've had from both breweries. I likely would've enjoyed it more in summery weather.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep orange red yellow with a fluffy white head. Smells of bright citrus and floral hops. Tastes of floral and citrus hops with nice sweet grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

This would be my go-to IPA if it were more available in the Denver area.

Pours a yellow to amber with a small amount of haze. A very small amount of head and sporadic lacing.

Taste is quite hoppy and bitter, with minimal amounts of citrus. A lighter body than expected.

If you're tired of every IPA being fruity this or hazy that then you can't go wrong here

Somehow this is my first ever Surly beer. Been waiting a long time to drink a Surly. Not a bad first beer from them. This is an old school hop bomb, verging on West Coast bitter bomb with dank IBUs through the roof. Heavy on the dank, skunky, resinous hops. Really nice body and feel. I don’t really go for beers like this these days but this reminds me of the hop bombs of yesteryear. Extremely well-crafted. Bravo!

Pours a fairly clear light orange with soft head and pretty lacing.

Smell is fruity and dank with notes of citrus, melon, pine and passionfruit.

Taste is fruity and dank with a powerful bitterness. Notes of pine, melon, grapefruit, peach and passionfruit.

Mouthfeel is medium, sticky and well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice classic IPA. Intense and well balanced.

I was planning to drink a Red's Rye IPA (Founders), but they had this on tap in June 2021 when we were on vacation in Michigan. Feeling I should not lose the opportunity, I ordered a 4 ounce taster. It's excellent! Very high bitterness quotient and maybe a floral hop.

Pours a bright, slightly less than clear orange golden working hard to give a half finger of white fine creamy head with central bubbles.
Nose is up front a blast of over ripe orange with piney notes, but especially as warmed increasingly dank and herbal.
Taste starts so bright and sweet - pale malt and citrus - orange and a hint of peach; hops dominate, and again increasingly as warmed a dank and herbal bitterness rises to the forefront.
Medium full mouthfeel, surprisingly tingly fine carbonation (more than expected on appearance with pour) - deliciously weedy and bittersweet. Great.

(10 oz tulip pour at their Beer Hall)

Orange gold liquid, clear; loose foam fell away quick... Floral overtone with a malty citrus plume foundation just below; little apparent alcohol... Cointreau like spiced orange expression on the palate; lightly bitter, medicinal aftertaste, leafy undertones... Very light and crisp in its texture, mellow heat lifting resins off the tongue... Fine DIPA, but nothing unique (2173)

Pours a bright golden and slightly orangish opaque with a big foamy head that quickly recedes. Great big bright hoppy citrusy smell. At the same time a little dank and piney. Taste is hoppy from the start through to the finish with a nice backbone of light malt. Hop profile is much like in the nose- manages to be bright and crisp and dank all at once. Nice bitterness. Delicious. This is the American IPA taste we all fell in love with decades ago before it all become DIPA's and NEIPA's, which I like too. But this is a real treat. Lighter bodied than you might expect. Very drinkable. Really great.

I have had this before but never reviewed it...hmmm.

On tap at Whistle Binkies in Rochester. Pours a nice copper colour with a head that recedes. Taste is more malt than citrus or dank, finishes malty. A definite change over the fruity/hazy/piney IPAs.

Slightly hazy orange color with a modest white head.
The aroma is dank pine and citrus.
The taste is a bit of sweet caramel malt upfront quickly followed by tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, honey and plenty of pine resin. The finish is dry with lingering pine and grapefruit zest, very tasty, plenty of bitterness.
The body is medium, plenty of carbonation, very drinkable, fairly smooth.
Altogether, this is a really nice IPA, especially for the hops lover. Very tasty and very enjoyable, I need another.
