On cask at Surly Taproom 10/22/14, poured into pint glass.
Pours a fully-cascading show of carbonation, settling to a two-finger head. Beer is very dark brown with dark tan head...which lasted longer than the beer. (This is real hand-crafted beer!)
Faint smell of caramel, yeast, and a bit of alcohol. Very subtle.
Mouthfeel is dominant. Even after head settles, the beer is like liquid caramel whipped cream, but much more rich. This is a porter, but execution is not light (and not heavy), just rich. A very approachable and really enjoyable take on a porter. Oh, and in no way necessarily a negative, but I tasted nothing but a trace of black currant.
