Had this on tap at the Surly Brew Hall
A: Pours a slightly hazy, golden color with a one-inch, creamy white head with short retention. Small amounts of thick, white lacing.
S: Mild citrus and earthy hop notes accompanied by sweet and biscuit malt undertones. Aromas are fairly weak overall.
T: Mild citrus and piney hop notes accompanied by cracker and biscuit malt flavors. Not as many hoppy notes as I'd like and honestly lacking a little bit for a so-called "hop forward" American IPA.
F: Light bodied and smooth with medium carbonation
O: Overall, a good IPA but not great. I'd be interested in trying some of the other batches, but this one was somewhat underwhelming for what I expect from Surly IPA's.

On tap at Surly’s Beer Hall. Served in a 10 oz. chalice.
Appearance: Color is a fairly hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and about a finger of white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.
Smell: A pretty juicy and piney hop forward aroma with a scent of citrus and pine resin. Citrus fruit hints of grapefruit, orange peel, tangerine, apricot, and mango. Earthy and spicy hop hints of pine resin and grass. Backing malt hints of caramel and grains along with some yeast. A pretty good smell.
Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and piney hop driven taste with notes of citrus and pine. Juicy citrus hop notes of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and apricot. Lots of spicy pine resin along with some grass. Background malt notes of caramel and grains with some yeast. A very good juicy taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and oily with a drying finish.
Overall: Another good version of Hopshifter. Good mix of juicy and piney hop flavor.
