Oh man, i love this IPA. (thanks to beckje01 for the trade)
I poured this straight from my 16oz can right into my Stone AB pint glass. The can looked like one of those red and black energy drink cans but with a pissed off attitude... very worthy of being poured into the AB glass.
This poured a turbid vibrant mohogany copper color with many dancing bubbles and good finger of oatmeal creamed head. Color was quite rich. The aromas were a one two punch of fragrant jabbing grapefruit freshly peeled with more citrus heaped on top. I couldnt really detect any malt.
The flavors were an explosion of pure citrus ie ruby grapefruits and blood oranges mixed with a little resin and freshly cut damp pine planks. I still couldnt detect any malt but i know it's there because it carried the hops and allowed it to shine.
A very enjoyable brew this one. Scrubbing on the tongue with a medium mouthfeel. Quite crisp and uncompromising. A true fricken delight and sets the benchmark for an IPA.

(on tap at Local Option - served in British pint, I think - can't quite recall)
A: (dry-hopped) cloudy, dark amber liquid... slimy foam that leaves some nice rings of lace
S: Amarillo hops, English yeast?... pine, stewed pear, apple... golden raisin?...
T: bitterness a lil grassy, pesky bite... little alcohol... malt only in the background, light caramel... mostly resiny hops here, somewhat grapefruity, a little peppery... rounded edges, overall dry finish
M: soft, dull-foamy, flat-ish... very easy to knock back quick
O: the bartender's reaction may have said it all: "but that's only a regular IPA... that's all you want?" - haha... never had it before, so yeah! - ended up having 3-4 other beers as well... it's a decent American IPA for sure... having used Amarillo once or twice in recent homebrews, I can smell this damn hop whenever I come across it now, and I dig it - it's distinct, not bright and citrusy, a bit more dank and overripe... glad I was able to try this, disappointed not finding Coffee Bender anywhere though
