Poured from a can to a glass just like the label says(Darkness Tulip).
Pours much darker then your typical IPA(a very dark amber) but then again there never is anything typical about any of Surly's beers. The head is off white, thick, frothy, and delicious looking. Head takes some time to dissipate and leaves medium lacing.
Smells of lots of citrus, pine, and grapefruit hops smell with malt backbone; makes my mouth water.
Taste is citrus and little pine but a nice malt backbone that balances out the hop bitterness in a refreshing way. The citrus tends to sit on the tongue but not in a resinous way that many hoppy beers do, its a lighter citrus but still finds a way to furiously smack you in the face.
Medium mouth feel that I enjoy and helps get the taste to sit in my mouth but not so much that I can't have a different brew after and enjoy it.
Furious is a great IPA and anyone that enjoys had better seek it out or else you will be missing an exceptional take on this style. I can sit and drink these all night and I love that many of the bars around the Twin Cities area have put it on tap. Great Beer.
