Big thanks to Quinn and Emily for tracking this don for me.
16oz can poured into a New Belgium globe.
A: Brilliant clear ruby color with lighter orange hues. Two inch off-white head, awesome retention. Lacing is prevalent and extremely sticky. You'd need a sandblaster to remove it from the glass.
S: Oily and resinous bitter hop smells, pine and grapefruit. Pine needles. Passion fruit, mango, mandarin orange, a bit of mango, maybe even strawberries. Possibly the best smelling IPA I've ever come across.
T: Oily, resinous bitterness, pine and grapefruit. Melon comes out, but is overpowered by more bitter grapefruit. Subtle flavors of passion fruit, orange, and fresh strawberries. Very, very subtle caramel flavors from the malt are all but completely dominated by the hops. Finishes with juicy fruit flavors of passion fruit, orange, and strawberries, and a light grapefruit bitterness.
M: Medium bodied, very slightly silky and creamy.
D: Extremely drinkable.
Notes: This is one hell of a beer. Only Sculpin is better in my mind, and that might be a matter of some debate. The nose is incredible.
