look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.5

Appearance - A dark orange almost amber color, the head at pour is thick and then thins out to above a collar. Lots of lacing left with the glass. A bit murky.

Smell - It smells of hops a bit frosty, malt, slight corn, floral and grapefruit.

Taste - A little bit bitter with a strong grapefruit after taste. After a while a tinny taste lingers on your tongue as it washes out probably from the can.

Mouthfeel - The hop bite is solid but it feels a bit carbonated.

Drinkablitity - Average, it might set some off overall but I'd have to knock its score down as an American IPA because of the tin. I also don't particularly like grapefruit.

poured 16oz can into Duvel tulip.

A - Dark amber/orange with a 2.5 finger white head. Good retention and quite a bit of lacing.

S - No joke that you can smell it when the can is cracked. Big hop aroma, citrus, and pine dominate. Caramel sweetness and malts are revealed on a closer wiff.

T - Pretty balanced, but more on the hoppy side. Cascade and Simcoe hops provide citrus and pine bitterness, while the Scottish malts yield caramel sweetness. The finish is fairly bitter.

M - Medium bodied with a sticky feel. Good carbonation for the style. Bitterness lingers on my palate after each sip.

O - Great IPA offering from Surly. Bitter and sweet, just right.
