Thanks to schlais for the trade! 16oz can into a Delirium tremens tulip.

Striking pour--bright, clear copperish amber body with a hefty cap of custard head. Good retention and lacing, with a steady stream of bubbles rising up from the laser etched bottom of the glass. Aroma is solidly hoppy, but not out-of-this-world. Green, fresh piney hop notes backed by a sizable malt presence of amber grain and biscuits. A bit of tropical fruit in the mix as well.

The taste of Wet showcases hops nicely too, but moreso with bitterness than with flavor. Resinous greenery coats the palate with a sticky herbalness, and a pinch of booze lingers into the finish. Mouthfeel is chewy and slightly viscous, but has enough carbonation to keep things from getting cumbersome as the sips continue. Overall, a solid IPA, but next year I'd like to try this when it's a bit fresher if possible. Still, Surly rarely disappoints.

Presentation: Pint can, served chilled and poured into a pint glass. Big thank you to phingdong for another nice IPA.

Appearance: Light, bright orange in color, with a slight, one finger sticky head.

Aroma: Pine, nice citrus backing, and a toasted malt in the background. Nice fresh hop aromas.

Taste: Lots of bitter pine and citrus. Really high hop bitterness. Toasted crackers in the background give some balance. Honestly though, I am finding the hops a bit one note.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Nice.

Overall, a nice IPA but not as great as I hoped. A nice hop bite, but it is a little one dimensional. I might buy this again, but I am not sure I would go too far out of my way for it.

Received a 1 PINT 16 FL. OZ. can of this from ChrisF in a trade when I visited Brooklyn Center, MN for Darkness Day 2011. Poured from the bright green, hop coned can into my 16oz HotShots Pint Glass. Does not have a best by or freshness date on it.

Aroma- Has a very sweet malty aroma that comes through citrus hop. Very clean and has a nice floral and pine hop aroma also.

Appearance- Pours a 1.5 finger head that has average retention. The body color is a nice orange color with a bit of haze but mostly clear. Leaves thick lacing behind.

Flavor- Huge hop flavor begins this tasting with a nice sweetness behind it. Very fresh hops and a light citrus/mango flavor comes through. Has a light-medium hop bitterness at teh finish.

Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light Carbonation, Smooth, Clean, and goes down easy without anything behind left behind.

Overall Impression- An Extremely easy IPA to enjoy! Didn't have overpowering hops nor any type of bitterness that would scare anyone away from this. Very clean and good all around for the style. Liked the mango and citrus I found in this one! Am a big fan of Surly! Keep em coming.

Can dated 10/12/11, poured into a CBC pint glass. Much thanks for this Duff27.

Pours a very light tangerine, almost yellow, with striking clarity. A small white head fades quickly, leaving minimal lacing. A tiny bit of sediment in the glass.

The nose is pure Citra, all day long. Huge, huge tropical fruit notes coming out of this beer. Loads of mango and plenty of papaya. The combination is pure sticky hops reminds me of guava paste.

The flavor profile is solid, if not quite the equal of the aroma. There is quite a bit of mango up front, but it's not nearly as vibrant as I expected. More of a grassy, earthy hop flavor here. There's a pronounced bitterness in the finish.

Carbonation is on the low side, but not detrimentally so. A very drinkable IPA.

Though not a perfect comparison, I absolutely prefer Furious to Wet. This is solid, just not especially spectacular.

500ml can thanks to stevef03 for the trade! Poured into a Triple Karmeliet tulip.

Golden-amber appearance with a decent off-white head that laced ok on the way down.

Smell has a slightly pungent, hop resin and pine, note to it. Not big, let alone over the top, just consistent.

Tasted in a similar vain, the Simcoe pungent hop resin in the foreground and occasionally some pine came in to break it up a touch.

Mouthfeel was very good, nice body for the style, very drinkable. Not a lot of bitterness for 90 IBU, even as this opened up, staying more like a real wet hop beer that seems all about the aroma, taste and feel being the standout factors.

This works. Consistent, highly drinkable and flavoursome.

Huge thanks to Soonami for this great extra. 16 fl. oz. can served in a tulip nonic. Pours a pale, honey-colored hue with a translucent clarity and a rocky, two inch cream-colored head. Head eventually dissipates into a solid 1/8th cap. A delicate, textured semi-circle of lacing adheres to the walls of the glass. Great nose - starts out with pine resins followed by citrus rind. Taste is a slightly sweet with a more assertive malt profile than I anticipated, based on the nose - light, toasted malt with a pleasant cereal sweetness. There's a bit of citric acid in the mix but the big piny aromas in the nose do not translate to the flavor profile. I have to say that I dig the mouthfeel - light-medium in consistency with a slightly oily texture and an extremely smooth carbonation. Overall, not as much of a hops presence as I anticipated, but I found this beer extremely pleasant and drinkable with a well-hidden abv. I'm not sure how this beer is fresh from the line, but I really enjoyed this brew as is with a month or two on it.

Poured into a pint glass

A- Amber with a thin, white, foamy head that leaves a significant amount of lacing.

S- Pine, grapefruit, apricots, orange peel

T- A perfect clone of the aroma with the bitter, pine-like flavor lingering at the finish.

M- Thicker than most IPAs I can remember. The carbonation is a perfect compliment to the body.

O- The mouthfeel makes this more of a sipper than the taste begs. The balance is great. This was a can from the last batch. I had it on tap almost right away and remember it being even better than this. Either way, a wonderful fresh hop brew!

I fear I may be coming to the party a wee bit late. Though this beer is barely 6 weeks old, clicking through the reviews reveals a steady dropoff in scores from its release date up until now.

So it goes with intentional hop bombs. Too much is tied up into freshness. And, hey, it says "DON'T AGE" in big bold letters at the top of the can, so maybe this review is unfair...

But six weeks? For a beer they just made one batch of? You can't blame me for this.

So, here's the thing, it smells and tastes like a green, sticky, intentionally unbalanced hop bomb. It's pretty good, but it's got the unmistakable, HopSlammish nodes of a beer that probably tasted a better a few weeks ago.

The plus side: no pretensions towards balance means no off nodes at all. No syrupiness and no gross, too-strong yeast. Also, even though the hop profile is too intense for me to say anything intelligent about it, it still tastes real good.

The down side: like I said, you can tell it was at one point better.

Still worth drinking, but find it quick and drink it even quicker.

Another fantastic offering from Surly.
Golden/bronze clear appearance, moderate head, floral lightly citrus aroma. Very pleasant. Floral up front, balanced taste, citrus lingers. Not at all overwhelming.
Smooth. A very easy drinker finished off quickly.
Very much worth seeking out.

Excellent representation of a fresh hop beer. As with many in a similar vein, the smell is typically the star of the show. You certainly get the Citra, but I also pick up an equal amount of the Simcoe in there.

Pours a touch hazy, just one shade off of gold. Extremely effervescent in the glass, kind of fun just to sit there and watch it bubble when you pour it into the proper vessel.

Certainly bitter on the tongue, however it ends up drinking very easy, it is an extremely solid well crafted beer overall. I am often not let down by Surly's offerings and this is no exception.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 10/27/11.

A- Pours a transparent golden-orange with about a finger of off-white head. Lots of carbonation and sticky webs of lacing.

S- Juicy citrus notes. Orange, grapefruit, etc. Also a decent kick of bitter piney resins. Maybe a bit of a bready note. Seems a bit subdued.

T- Sweet juicy citrus at the front paired with a bigger bitter presence than the nose suggested. Finishes really dry with some lingering bitterness and malty, bready notes.

M- Medium-light bodied with just enough carbonation. Drying finish.

O- I honestly thought this one would be better after seeing the buzz around it when it came out, but it just seems really subdued. It's not a bad beer by any stretch, but Abrasive blows the pants off of this in my book.

5 week old can consumed Nov. 19, 2011 at Inaugural Bottle Share. From notes.

A: Copper, clear with a nice white head and enough lacing to keep me happy.
S: This is pure hop juice. Tropical fruits, grapefruit and light hints of pine along with a bit of black pepper.
T: Falls off the rails here for me... Thin body without the powerfully whallop of hop flavours to back it up. I find it hard to believe that it faded that quickly... Not a bland body, but a body of a watery APA at best, with similar hop notes to the nose.
M: Bitterness really builds up over time and the beer finishes quite dry, but the beer itself is thin.
O: The body of the beer really disappoints here, but if I could breathe this nose 24/7 I would die happy. A real dichotomy here, but a beer is meant to be drunk...

Rating the 2013 vintage.

Appearance: Amber Orange in color. 1.5 finger head.

Smell: Fresh cut grass, floral, grapefruit, but not overly citrusy. Balanced by a slight maltiness

Taste: Super fresh (what else would you expect). Taste follows the nose. You get that fresh cut grass/pine, but you get that herbally/floral taste to it as well. Really great stuff.

Mouthfeel: Slick, bright, and crisp.

Overall: 2011 with Citra was the penultimate for me, but this is great in its own right. It's a completely different beer than years' past. More balanced, crisp, and still the best wet hop beer on the market today.

big thanks to beerhan for sending this as an extra! pours out a crystal clear bright golden orange color. topped off by a two finger bright white head that slowly fades to a cap leaving sticky lacing behind. nose is filled with big tropical, sweet, juicy citrus fruits, some malts and a little pine on the tail end of things. taste buds are greeted with pineapple, orange, mango fruits, some sweet malts and a little earthy pine needle. mouthfeel was surprising to me. it had great carbonation and a well balanced body. it just seemed to not be as dry and bitter as it should have. dont get me wrong, this is an excellent beer, but it tasted more like a pale ale than a west coast style ipa.
