On tap at Stub and Herb's. Amazing that people will rate the heck out of super hopped up beers and RISs but usually bypass the other ones. Why?
A: deep, deep, copper color - great head
S: mild nose
T: good, malty, decently rich with nice hop finish but not intense - well-made dunkel, a bit weak in body but just an easy drinking beer
M & D: very good

On tap at Joe's Place in Iowa City. Arrived in a pint glass.
Appearance: A deep reddish-brown with coppery tones, capped with a somewhat beige head less than a finger thick, which dissipates rather quickly.
Smell: Caramel, toffee, some faint traces of oak, and a bit of walnut / pecan wafts out of the glass.
Taste: Superbly malty, this is a a festival of caramel and toffee, buoyed up by some notes of pecan and walnut. Here and there, slight traces of fruit appear, like a green apple. The finish is primarily toffee and nuts.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, on the light side of medium-bodied, and with just enough carbonation to not feel flat.
Overall: I enjoyed this dunkel. Will repeat.

Poured on-tap in their beer hall into chalice.
A: Pours a dark caramel brown with 1/4 inch off white head that quickly dissipates.
S: Sweet caramel malt with hints of clove and banana.
T: Sweet caramel malt, clove, banana, and a note of bubble gum.
M: Light-medium body. Bready sweet. Lightly dry.
D: Decent for style, but lacking some body and would be nice to have more clove/banana.

Tastes of caramel apple and oak. Great toffee aroma. Don't know how it compares to others of this style, but it is a great beer.
