Poured from a firkin at Bryant Lake Bowl on 11/27. Another fine brew provided by them!
A- Pours a pitch black with a few dark mocha bubbles. No lacing is left behind.
S- Dark chocolate bars, chocolate wafers, vanilla bean ice cream, cocoa powder, raisins, bourbon and black cherry. A nice aroma, but a little subdued.
T- Rich dark chocolate, smooth vanilla bean, cream, bourbon, a hint of roast and milk chocolate covered cherries and raisins.
M- Low carbonation with a rich full mouthfeel with the abv. being hidden very well.
O- Well I've heard mixed reviews about the regular Bourbon Aged Darkness, but wow, this is phenomenal. I had two pours and could have had another, though I might have regretted it in the morning. I prefer this over the Bourbon Vanilla DL. A really well balanced BA stout that's not cloying or too bourbon forward.
