Aroma certainly features the pine hops you'd expect...very fresh smelling and true to the style they're going for at first, but then it seems kind of candy sweet.
Pours a dark golden color, crystal clear. Head is fairly small but present.
Taste is hoppy upfront, with a good deal of pine hops....but not overbearing at all. Somewhat middle of the road I suppose. Fades into a bready and candy sweet malt taste that really seems a little bit off to me for the style. A bit resiny on the finish, lingering a bit. Still, I don't think this is Surly's best beer by a longshot. It's a fair west coast style IPA....but they have far better.
