A - Very slightly hazed straw with a big, billowy white head. Poured this a bit hard on account of not expecting this sort of foam.

S - Nose is very grassy, light lemon backing.

T - First impression is bitter and hoppy, but the bitterness seems to lessen quickly. Little bit of graininess and some lemon-citrus.

M - A bit of a sharp carbonation. Light body has a bit of slickness.

D - Good drinkability. Hops are strong, but have an understated quality that lets the malt come through.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains citrus, light caramelized malts and earthy hops.

T: The taste is nicely balanced and starts with mildly sweet flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a strong but not over-powering grassy hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a very good beer to drink for a long time.

Thornbridge branded beers were first brewed in early 2005 after the establishment of a 10 barrel brewery on the grounds of Thornbridge Hall in Derbyshire, England. The initial focus was on producing a range of cask beers that used traditional recipes but provided a modern twist through the use of a wide range of hops, malts and innovation. The brewery has won a succession of awards since its opening (over 200 national and international awards) and a new 30 barrel, state of the art brewery and bottling line ("Riverside") was built at Bakewell, England in September 2009 to meet increased demand. Thornbridge continues to operate from both brewery sites.

Bucky snagged a 500 ml bottle of the brewery's Jaipur India Pale Ale ("Jaipur"), which was 5.9% alcohol by volume with a best before date of November 28, 2013 printed on the back. A little wary about this one...half-expecting a nuclear hop bomb. An overly aggressive pour produced about 2.5" of fluffy, snow-white head that lasted for quite some time, leaving some beautiful, sticky lacing down the glass as it retreated. The beer itself was a cloudy, yellow/gold colour, taking on more of the golden hue when backlit. Jaipur's aroma was dominated by grapefruit, with undertones of pine and orange. Its flavour began with a slightly sweet, juicy mix of grapefruit, orange and pine, transitioning to a distinctly bitter finish which lingered as a long-lived aftertaste. Definitely bitter, but not so bitter as to overwhelm all else and ruin the experience. Thornbridge has the balance just right on this one. Jaipur had a fairly active but suitable level of carbonation, and I would describe the beer as light to medium bodied. Though I'm not a huge fan of IPAs generally, this is probably the nicest one that I have tried to date and I would certainly drink this beer again. At $4.95 per 500 ml bottle it is pricey, but quality (and British beers sold in Canada generally) usually are.

Undated bottle at cellar temp into an imperial pint
Aroma flowery
Head large (6 cm), white, creamy with rocks, slowly diminishing into large chunks of foam floating
Lacing good
Body light yellow, hazy, some sediment in bottle
Flavor begins slightly hoppy with no alcohol, no diacetyl, and no malt presence. Ends with a slight bitterness.
Palate light, watery, soft carbonation

This is a nice example of a strong Brit IPA, much weaker than we are used to here in the colonies. If you can find one, a nice change from our usual hop bombs, smooth and easy drinking.

Had this with a hot chicken curry. Great combo.

First smell from the bottle is citrus and pine. IPA.
Pale golden colour, nice creamy head after a good pour. Clear and good carbonation.
NIce strong hoppy smell, as said, and yet the taste is quite mild in it's bitterness.
Mouthfeel is soft for an IPA, to my experience. Very well balance between crispness and smoothness. Refreshing.
All in all this is a great beer, imo.
Glad to have tried this. It's expensive where i live, but it's worth the experience.
