Picked this up at a great little beer store in Arlon, Miorge Mihoublon. Clear golden pour with snow white two finger head with good retention but minimal lacing. Huge perfumey citrus nose with hints of lemon and grapefruit along with biscuity malt and a touch of grass. The taste is dominated by juicy citrus as well. Very herbal with hints of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, and apricot along with some subtle pine and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is nearly perfect with a nice tangy, slightly fizzy, and totally juicy finish. This is the epitome of a great session beer. I am totally convinced that Thornbridge cannot make a bad beer!

Chiron has a beautiful apricot flavour, but it's colour is more like that of a pineapple (which, actually, it also tastes like). It has a considerably clear complexion despite that it's unfiltered; there's no sign of sediment anywhere. Its head blossoms bountifully from the pour but gradually fades.

Thornbridge has already proven their penchant for hoppy offerings with excellent brands like Jaipur IPA, Halcyon, and Kipling. This one, intended as a balanced pale ale, still has a fair amount of soapy citrus as well as floral and grassy notes, albeit in subtle quantities.

This more restrained hop presence has little to do with the malts, at least in so far as aromatics go; the grain doesn't really offer much to sniff at. It does, however, provide enough toasted biscuit and honeycomb flavour to get you licking your lips. This has a broad, full frame.

Together together, all these elements - the rose petal, grass clipping, and citrus skin tastes of the hops and the crunchy bread crust notes of the malts - really do a strike an accord. The two get along like old college roommates. They manage to compliment one another through contrast.

Thornbridge is a British brewery capable of making American-style ales as good as anyone in the lower 48 (and, it pains me to say, better than most Canadian microbreweries seem to be capable of). As much as I enjoyed Chiron - and enjoyed it I sure did - it didn't quite warrant the asking price in this market. If I lived in the UK, however, I'd keep a case permanently on-hand.

500ml bottle into nonic pint. "best before 04.03.15", enjoyed on july 15, 2014

a: clear vibrant apricot/light orange with a foamy two fingers of off-white head

s: grapefruit, pear, and malt are dominant, but i detect apricot, lemon, hints of orange, and floral notes as well. shy flashes of tropical fruit too?

t: a really delicate and mellowed out melange of grapefruit, pear, mango, orange, apricot, and pine. mid-tasting exhibits delicious biscuity malt flavours and a perfect, moderate tea-like bitterness that lingers and dries the palate well. the pine and mango notes become much more prominent as the beer warms

m: light mouthfeel, medium carbonation. suitable for the style

o: a balanced, tasty, and fantastic pale ale. this is the second beer i've tried from thornbridge, the first being their halcyon IPA (which is amazing), and now i'm really eager to delve into the rest of their brew catalogue. i recommend this beer to everyone

Pours amber with a large, white head.
Nose shows mandarins and passion-fruit along with some floral and herbal notes.
More floral hops and citrus fruit as flavours along with some bready malt. Very drinkable stuff.
Could use a bit more carbonation.

500ml bottle from Peckhams deli, Glasgow (£2.75):
Bright golden with a thick looking, bubbly white head on top that turns to a thick lacing.

Strong pine and grapefruit aroma from this one with a few citrus notes coming through as well. There was also a nice few tropical fruit notes in the mix with some passion fruit and sweet juices making an appearance too.

Tropical fruits upfront along with some pine and a mild grapefruit flavour that isn't overly bitter. There is some nice bitter hops and a good amount of pine with a citrus tang. Again nothing overly strong but there is a nice mango and passion fruit flavour in the middle with a touch of spice too.

Smooth with a medium body and a small amount of spice. There is a good citrus tang and moderate to strong bitterness levels but overall the beer is pretty refreshing.

Good tropical fruits, notable passion fruit and to a lesser extent mango with a fair amount of citrus too. The bitterness wasn't overdone and the beer maintained a good balance throughout.

Deep golden color, it poured just a thin head with short retention but leaving laces.
Wonderful hoppy aroma, as usual for a Thornbridge, floral and fruity, highlighting mango and passion fruit.
Similarly flavor is also hoppy, a bit tangy, resiny and floral as well. Aftertaste is bitter and dry.
Light body with light carbonation and small bubbles.
Excellent beer, UK beer with America hops, a winning combination.
