Picked this up at a great little beer store in Arlon, Miorge Mihoublon. Clear golden pour with snow white two finger head with good retention but minimal lacing. Huge perfumey citrus nose with hints of lemon and grapefruit along with biscuity malt and a touch of grass. The taste is dominated by juicy citrus as well. Very herbal with hints of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, and apricot along with some subtle pine and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is nearly perfect with a nice tangy, slightly fizzy, and totally juicy finish. This is the epitome of a great session beer. I am totally convinced that Thornbridge cannot make a bad beer!

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2013. Picked up recently from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as an American pale ale.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A bright golden-amber hue with faint haze and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a thin surface layer. Some lacing. Aroma of juicy hop notes: grapefruit, orange rind, mango, passion fruit, citrus and tropical fruits. Underpinned by mild hints of caramel malt and dry yeast. Stunning and utterly delicious.

Tastes of intense fruity hops with a subtle malt backbone and a strident bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, mango, tropical fruit, earthy yeast, stewed hops and faint caramel malt. Slightly spicy and peppery. A powerful, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is dry, tingly and smooth, with good body. Rather astrigent, with an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, fruity notes and yeast.

Superb - an amazingly flavoursome brew at an easy-drinking strength. It looks lovely, and the aroma is sublime. Both aroma and flavour are saturated with intense fruity hop notes. The mouthfeel is pleasant; the relatively light body seems to allow the liquid to stimulate every tastebud. This is fantastic - if you are a hophead then this is the brew for you. Well worth sampling.

Not terrible. Lesson learned, however. The Brits make some great beer, but when t comes to American styles, they need to start flying white flags.

Decent enough pour that hinted that my suspicions might be wrong about this - until I read the bottle. Never have I seen such a clear 'unfiltered' beer. Goodness me. This could be bad.

It tastes very distinctly....British....as if they wanted to possibly add some North American hops to a golden ale....cascade named specifically....yes, I can taste some cascade hops...faintly....

Bottom line? If someone offered it to me...yes, I'd drink it again. Would I buy it again? Likely not.

Pours amber with a large, white head.
Nose shows mandarins and passion-fruit along with some floral and herbal notes.
More floral hops and citrus fruit as flavours along with some bready malt. Very drinkable stuff.
Could use a bit more carbonation.

500ml Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for $5 or so

Appearance - Gold colour with a large size white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Hops, breads/grains, lemon/apricot

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste lemons, breads/grains, hops, and a grassiness. There is also some apricot

Overall - A nice well balanced interesting taste. Light and refreshing and great for the summer. Pricey for what it is though, so I probably won't buy it again.

There's a slight haze to its golden amber body. Plenty of carbonation keeps the two fingers of fluffy, whipped white head afloat.

Bright and zesty. Big notes of grapefruit and peach are sharpened by a fresh grassy, almost pine-like character. Lemon peel and biscuit come out as it warms. It's fresh and clean.

Piney, grassy hops come with a zip. There's lemon peel all around. Biscuit comes after. The bitterness ends with the finish and it tidies up nicely.

Light to medium bodied with a touch of creaminess. It's clean and rounded. I prefer my pale ales with a bit more dryness but this was still quite quaffable.

A good pale ale through and through. It's bright with plenty of citrus; perfect for a summer drinker. It didn't blow me away with originality but it was well worth the pick up at the LCBO.

Pours deep golden to light amber body capped by a finger thin white head that creates short lived sheets of lace quickly broken into patches sliding down the sides .

Citrusy hops reminiscent of tangerine interplay with biscuity malt. There's a light mineraly touch to the nose.

Although the beer is classified as American pale Ale it cannot hide its English roots - likewise the aroma flavor too delivers a mineraly kiss pointing that high sulphate water has been used. Citrusy hops with grassy element dominate over the clean malt-flavor while hop-bitterness remains restrained without any trace of astringency or harshness. Smoothly drinking and very true to the style.

Body is moderately carbonated with crispy texture.

In short, a great English interpretation of American interpretation of originally English style (500 ml into tulip, BB 04-30-2013).

500 ml bottle purchased from LCBO for under $5 CDN. Served cold into a pint glass. Best before March 4, 2015.

Appearance - rich golden honey brown in color, also very clear and a plethora of tiny bubbles make their ascension to the surface. Just over two fingers of velvety white head, the retention time is impressive and some lacing left on the glass. Very impressive looking.

Smell - big burst of citrusy fruit with plenty of pineapple and grapefruit. There's also a caramel malt base but it is hidden subtlety behind the citrus punch. Very strong aromatics for a pale ale.

Taste - citrusy, with pineapple and grapefruit behind the leaders although I believe there's a lime flavor in there as well. Again the caramel is hidden but comes out a bit on the back half of the sip. Simple yet really well executed and tremendously flavourful for a 5% brew.

Mouthfeel - ballistic carbonation creates a tingling sensation on the tongue which works really nicely with the citrus punch. Still relatively light bodied and a medium finish.

Overall - as far as APA's go, this is a great one, with tons of aroma and flavor and a great feel, yet this is light and very refreshing. Right now wishing I have another waiting for me in the fridge.

Citrus, melon and some sticky hop bud on the nose with a bit of sour melon underneath. Pale sunglow with a steady off white carpet of head that rims and leaves plenty of trailers. Light cracker and tangerine jam up front with some peaches and golden crunch biscuit then lots of clementine hops with slight evergreen.
Waxberry and lemon peel finish and Light, some cling, slight oil, crisp.

Pale Ale, Munich and Cara malts, Crystal Cascade and Chinook hops - with those ingredients and "American Pale" right on the label, why is this in as an ESB?

Lots of those compellingly tasty light mandarin notes that Lagunitas does so well. Munich might explain a bit of lagery toast in the malts. Body is well judged, aroma wins out over IBUs and hops are incredibly bright, nectary and fresh.

A top quality version of a familiar taste.
