On-tap 9/5/2012 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, spices, caramelized malts and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of fruity citrus and some spices. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings some balance. The jasmine flavors bursts out at the end. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid IPA to drink for a while if you enjoy the jasmine/spice flavor in it.

On tap at Max's.

The beer pours a copper amber color with good head retention and considerable sticky lacing. The beer is listed as a Jasmine IPA, and the jasmine aroma is pretty noticeable on the nose. Otherwise, there's the expected sweet malt cherry aroma and apple. On the palate, the beer is interesting, but I really don't think the jasmine flavor goes well with the citrus, sweet malt and black pepper. The beer has some sweetness otherwise, but the hoppy bitterness and jasmine counters that pretty well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long, bitter jasmine finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, but then again, the abv. is only 6.7%.

An OK beer, but not really something I can see myself ordering again any time soon.

I must say, if you like the flavor of jasmine as much as I do, you'll be able to knock down pint after pint of this stuff.

Amber and crystal clear with a dense, nearly creamy (I'd go with silky-frothy), almost pure white head. Beautiful color contrast.

All I smell - the first thing I smell - is the fresh-cut-floral scent of jasmine. Hops are surely there as well, but in a background, supporting role. I suppose once it warms a little some faint toasty notes poke through, as well as some mineral(?) nuances. Can you really smell minerals?!

The jasmine comes through stronger in the nose, I'd say. Once sipped, the hops come forward more and provide a better balance. Can't say there's anything particularly notable about the hop flavor. Probably one of the standard English varieties. Between the jasmine and the hops, not much malt comes through - perhaps on the tail end - and it's a simple yet ideal light-toasted biscuit flavor. The jasmine is the real focus of this ale.

Surprisingly (or not) there's not as much bitterness as I'd expect, nor does the alcohol come though harsh or hot or even warm. The carbonation is fairly soft but it does enhance the creaminess of the mouthfeel. So easy to drink.

A lot of the key elements of this ale were nailed down. Very crisp, clean, and quaffable. Well-conceived from top to bottom. Even without the jasmine, I have a feeling it would still be a solid IPA. I'm a fan.

Served on tap at The Brick Store Pub on 9/11/2012. Reviewed from notes.

(Appearance) Pours a light copper amber with a creamy white head. Good retention. Looks solid. 4

(Smell) Citrus hops forward, mild floral aromas, a hint of pine over a solid balanced caramel base. Aroma is clean and fresh. Delicious. 4.5

(Taste) Strong floral flavors, bitter petals with a bit of pine and spicyness. Mild hints of vegetation. Very interesting, although the dominant flavor is the jasmine, which is sharp, the citrus characters are overpowered, with only a lemon peel remaining for some bitterness. It's certainly an experience to behold, and that jasmine is really a front player here, although the rest of the players make for an enjoyable drink. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) smooth with just a touch of carbonation. Body is medium, alcohol presence is low. Nice pairing, a tad flat but an enjoyable pairing. 3

(Overall) pretty tasty IPA, with tons of jasmine floral flavor and a medium/high bitterness. I enjoyed it although I felt the other flavors beyond the jasmine at times weren't able to keep up, but it's certainly worth trying should you get your hands on it. 3.5
