Pours a nice head, decent retention and solid film and lacing. Colour is a straw, copper, gold. Pretty nice.

Smell is a dry crisp maltiness. Some apple-y notes. Hops are pleasant.

Taste is a fresh and crisp fruitiness initially, this has a real bite of a body to it, quite refreshing. Good balance with good amounts of malt and hops. Pretty good flavour though it goes a bit sour and minerally at the end. Aftertaste is dry, slightly tart.

Mouthfeel is quite refreshing and drinkability, light body, very sessionable. Carbonation is moderate. Drinks fine.

A fine session ale. Not amazing, but wouldn't turn it down, quite tasty, nothing special though.

Hand-pulled pint in 'The Smugglers' on Cleethorpes Sea Front (10 Oct 2012).

Another beer I have on a regular basis that somehow hasn't seen me write about it.

Amber body: good, deep and creamy textured white head on top.

The taste and nose were fruity and malty, slightly different to the bottled version, certainly more of a caramel feel to the whole thing.

Nice easy blend: mine was getting towards the end of the barrel and almost on the turn, but I know it can be a lot better than the pint I had, so my scores are higher than the pint should really get.

A - A attractive dark apricot colour but topped by a fairly pathetic flimsy head and rings of lace.

S - Honey, lemon, grass, biscuit, grain.

T - Fairly typical of the mildness of the style, an assortment of faint flavours, orange flavoured strepsils, honey, apricot, lemon, corn and some floral hops.

M - Medium to high carbonation, dry and lightly bitter in the finish, thin bodied.

O - Not bad, but won't be rushing out to get myself another one.

theres no excuse really for this beer, i might be being harsh on it because i just had other ales(true ales, not this joke) but its just not good. when a beer is marketed the way this one is in england, on the same shelf as fullers london pride and fullers disover blone beer as well as honey dew all vasltey superior beers, it should be at least in the same league on the low end or something, there no different bettween this and heiniken , stella or other wise, its not and adjunct lager, however it taste very mass pro duced, mostly there just nothign special.

look, gold amber hugh

smell, hops smell not very aromatic

taste, macro lagery adjuncty, stellaish, mildly bitter mildly sweet. dry bitter hops finish. not bad but nothing stands out by any means.

mouth feel, leaves it dry, with bitter.

over all, would by again, didnt enjoy it, i only finished all 500ml because i wanted the alcohol and mostly cuz i paid for it.more than3 quid man.

buy somthing else.

Thanks to Ruds for this one.

Poured from a 500ml. bottle, best before 31 Mar 12.

Appearance: A very hazy apple cider colored body. Lots of little lacing all around and a healthy head that holds its own.

Smell: Orange rinds, grapefruit and a mineral-like aroma.

Taste: Grapefruit rinds, biscuity and fleshy fruit. Bit of spicy sugar. Packs some good flavor.

Mothfeel: Creamy comes to mind as well as a bit of grainy bitterness.

Overall: Very nice pale ale with a nice taste and very easy to drink.

Bottle @ sandwich shop in Grasmere, Lake District.
After a day of winter travel in the Lake District, I found this to be a perfect bitter to accompany my sandwich. Pleasantly aromatic, snappy, and, in short, everything a darker Bitter should be. Recommended -- especially for the wayward American seeking something unavailable at home.

Update: 09/2011.
Bottle purchased in Cambridge, UK in May 2011; opened in September.
Just as delicious, pleasant, and delightful as I remember it being in '07. I've adjusted my ratings numbers to reflect my evolved palate over the past 4 years.
