Pours a nice amber color with a fluffy white head. Lots of bubble activity in the glass as head doesn't dissipate very quickly.
Nice tripartite aroma here: malt, pine, and citrus. Pretty well balanced if not terribly strong.
Taste is very well balanced. There is a very nice malt backbone to go along with essence of caramel. This is mixed with a hoppy pull--pine and citrus fruits are both present. Just the right combination of malt and hops for those who appreciate a well-balanced I.P.A. as I do.
Red Lantern is a medium-bodied beer with medium carbonation. There is a nice hop sting left behind on the palate.
Overall this is a very nice beer. I am surprised that it doesn't get more love. Flavorful, malty, and hoppy with the dual presence of citrus and pine. This is a beer that I could most certainly enjoy on a regular basis. It may not be the fanciest or most challenging brew, but sometimes balance and craftsmanship need to be appreciated as well.

Pours out a dark amber with thick, airy beige head. Malt dominates the aroma, leaning towards the RIPA side of the scale. Hops edge in on taste, lots of caramel malts too. Hops drag on in the finish. A maltier IPA.

Color is a clear copper with the most beautiful big long-lasting head in the shaker. Malty and even on the rich side. Bready and aromatic with hops. Earthy and acidic. Resiny aroma.
Some grapefruit peel bitterness. This would be one of the better Red Ales I've had, but the brewer calls it an IPA, I guess since it's so hoppy. But it's not as bitter as a lot of Red/Amber brews. Poured from the 22 oz bottle from the supermarket in Portland.

Pours red with large head.
Malty aroma but with lots of resinous hops too. Some piny hops as well.
Malty flavours too, very rich but again with a lot of hops to balance things out. Very resinous and piny, some spicy notes too.

I bought a bottle of Red Lantern Red IPA in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours a copper color (OK copper/red) clear with a foamy two-tone off-white and beige head. Just a few bubbles rising in the glass.
Smell is a sweet citrus and candy aroma. Lemon blossom and caramel.
Taste is a bitter caramel flavor, with a malted grain presence. Not much fruit on the pallet.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, mildly carbonated with a dry bitter finish.
Overall a good IPA, more of a winter brew than a summer thirst quencher, but a nice caramel flavored beer.

Pours a very nice dark golden amber color, very nice carbonation, very nice thick creamy one-finger plus off-white head, big huge island basically fills the whole glass, lots of thick sticky lacing. The nose is hoppy, with a nice dose of malts, some citrus, nice little pine note. The taste is hoppy, slightly malty, with some citrusy/piney notes. Medium body, very nice dry/bitter finish. Overall a pretty tasty brew, would buy again.
