2012 Vintage, bottled Nov. 5, 2012.
A - Pours a really deep, murky brown with a thin, one finger light khaki head that fades quickly. Not really much retention or lacing to this one.
S - Sweet caramel, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla and and bready malts. It's rich, malty and most of all really quite sweet to me.
T - Overly sweet dark fruits and bready malts at first that develop into good bourbon barrel aged characteristics of vanilla, brown sugar and light oak. Again, it's overly sweet for my tastes here.
M - Medium bodied and carbonation. It has a cloying sweetness to me.
O - I'm not sure with the "whale" factor plays a role in the high rating here. But, the beer is overly sweet in nature, which is a huge turnoff for me.

Appearance: Pours a clear auburn color, with 1/2" of light khaki colored head. pretty nice retention time, and ultimately reduced down to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. minimal lacing.
Smell: Rich, sticky toffee, vanilla, hints of wood, medium amount of oxidation, which does not retract too much, and is reasonable considering this is 4 years old.
Taste: Toffee, caramel, sherry, wood, vanilla, and hints of oxidation, although not as prevalent as the nose. Sweet, but not too much so especially for this style.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full mouthfeel, appropriate carbonation, sticky with residual sugars. Again, good. Overall, this probably would have been better a year ago, but still has retained much of its quality. A bit oxidized, but does not affect the beer too much overall. I have a 2011 that I will open very soon and hope it has faded a bit less than this.
