Thanks to hopsbreath for this one. Split three ways and served in a New Belgium globe glass.
A: Mostly opaque dark brown pour with a fluffy 1" white head. Looks pretty thin when swirled around in the glass, a good deal of carbonation apparent as well.
S: Mild malty sweetness. Only the slightest hop notes, mostly just hints of bitterness. Faint biscuity notes mixed with a bit of lightly roasted malts. Pretty muted, but still nice.
T: Malt profile very similar to the nose, plus nice nutty flavors and a bit more sweetness than I was smelling. Very pleasant blending of flavors with a nice mild bitter finish.
M: Thin, as expected, but not a problem given the flavor profile. Nice carbonation.
D: Fairly high. No real alcohol presence and a nice, faintly sweet flavor profile with a good balancing bitterness. Carbonation is spot on, as well.

on tap at Belmont Station into 8oz. snifter.
Pours deep mahogany red with thin tan head that dissipates very quickly. The is lightly rising carbonation.
The aroma is quite hoppy upfront, backed by sweet malts.
The first thing I note in the taste is pine hops with a strong caramel and lightly roasted malt backing. As I progress through the glass it becomes much more evenly balanced with the hops becoming a light accent to the rich, caramel and breaded malts.
The mouthfeel is a pretty average medium body with fairly active carbonation.
I thought this was a well crafted beer and I really enjoyed it, though I haven't quite decided if I am willing to spend the money on a bottle as I didn't find it to be anything truly outstanding.

22oz. bottle poured into a nonic. Thanks to hopsbreath for this one!
(A)- Pours a dark brown amber color that produced a good frothy tan head with good retention and plenty of lacing.
(S)- A dry, yet nutty brown sugar/caramel sweetness.
(T)- Similar to the smell, only much more on the sweeter/rich side of the spectrum. That same nutty brown sugar and caramel sweetness.
(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. A bit heavy on the sweet side.
(D)- Definitely on the stronger and richer side for the style, but a good and unique one at that. Hits the spot when you are looking for something more than the average brown ale; reminiscent of some strong ales. Still, it took me quite some time to polish of the bottle due to its rich and sweet core.

Actually a Double Northwest Brown Ale. First brewed to commemorate three golds and two silvers at the '06 GABF. Brewed again for the first time this year ('10). Single batch of deliciousness that I had to stock up on.
A: Deep mahogany/Brown with some subtle carmen/crimson tinges. Medium/light carbonation leaves a solid ring of miniscule bubbles around the perimeter of my NB globe. Subtle lacing.
S: Chocolate malts, french roast, hot cocoa, woodsy. Rich hops make an appearance highlighting the sharper burnt/roasty notes. A bit reclusive on the nose. A bit sharp. A bit interesting for certain.
T: Dark esresso. Chocolate covered coffee beans. Dark cocoa powder. Very much weighted towards the darker end of the spectrum, but more cocoa than dark chocolate like a porter or stout. Definite golden and caramelized malt notes with pronounced hop attack. Excellent and lasting finish of hops and deep, dark flavors.
M: Slight bitterness keeps this fresh and the weight from being heavy. Surprisingly light on sweetness/stickiness for a double brown which keeps this from being cloying. Soft but aggressive.
D: Surprisingly excellent for a double anything. Sweetness and dry bitter/hoppiness are in perfect balance. Alcohol is high, but not insane. This goes down like a regular brown, not double, making it superbly, and dangerously, drinkable.

Appears deep brown with a small light tan head.
It smells of nutty, caramel malt. I get a bit of a slight citrusy hop smell as well.
It tastes initially of subdued toffee and caramel. I get a bit of a bready, nutty and a bit toasted. It is pretty malty yet well balanced. I get a bit of a citrus hop flavor and a bit of a bitter aftertaste.
There is a smooth low carbonation to the beer.
The drinkability of the beer is very good. It is smooth and well-balanced. It goes down very easy.

A: Reddish brown with a thin cap
Smell: I smell hops with a little sweet malts and a hint of chocolate.
Taste: Sweet caramel and malts balanced with possibly some cascade hops. I also smell some coffee with chocolate accents.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, sticky, sweet, and carbonated.
Drink: I enjoyed it.
