this one is back and its really good, drinkable and clean but also more than just hops, subtly unique on the grain side too, and i ended up liking this one a lot, glad i scored a sixer! when its ice cold it drinks really clean, moderately bitter, bright and fruity on the hop side, and simple it seems, but as it warms a little some neat grain comes into the mix, lighter than a lot of english type ipa, less rich and crystal-esque, this is more biscuit, graham cracker, still light, but flavorful and toasty, a great foundation for summery floral and citrusy hops, wonderful balance with the malt, and drinkability is not at all sacrificed. just a bit of a rust tint to this, but it stays light and glowing in the glass under an inch of white head slowly relaxing. the carbonation is just a little softer in this one, which slows it down enough to appreciate all the nuance. the hops are cool here too, grassy herbal front end, middle of the road bitterness later on, but tangerine and key lime notes in the middle with some more delicate floral attributes, and a pleasant slightly dank linger at the end of each pull. this is exceedingly fresh which makes it, but the recipe is clever too, and for all the unique ipa types pelican brews, which is a ton, this one still stands out as something a little different. real drinkable, refreshing, even crisp at the end despite the malt and some mellow fermentation character. great four season ipa here! underrated for sure, i wonder if the new release has modified and improved the original recipe...

Pelican's press release for this beer boasts a "blend of Sterling, Fuggle and Meridian hops, focusing on herbal, floral, spicy and tangerine-like characters." It's a unique hop profile that I find interesting and enjoyable. I bought a half-growler of it after tasting 3 other IPAs on tap. Pelican tends to lean heavily on the citrusy hops for their IPAs so it was refreshing to have one that doesn't. There is a bit more of a malt backbone in this one as well, but one that doesn't make it too sweet, heavy, or nutty. This may be my favorite Pelican brew, and Pelican makes some good brews! I'll have this one again.

Very light and drinkable for an IPA, but complex and refreshing...Excellent on a summer day at the beach!

Pours a murky orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, floral, earth, and spicy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with burnt grain, earth, and spicy hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with lots of earthy and spicy hop characteristics.

Excellent color and clarity with fluffy white head that lingers into a thin layer. Hoppy body and nice refreshingly dry finish. Nice IPA

Had from 22oz bomber purchase at 7-11 in SE Portland. Bottled on: 06/05/2015
Sports a light amber/copper/ golden orange color with a boisterous creamy white head. It sticks around for a good amount of time before dissipating into an attractive creamy white lacing.
Malty aromas of marmalade, citrus peel, tangerine, bran flakes, cranberry-orange scones, and orange-scented cake icing.
Medium-bodied, good carbonation, some malty sweetness in the mid-palate and a pleasantly subdued finish of tangerine peel, caramel malts, and spicy and herbal hops.
