We had the pleasure of Visiting the Pelican Pub and Brewery on our recent vacation to the Pacific Northwest, and it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. I have to say, this place has the most fantastic and beautiful location of any brewery, brewpub, or even restaurant I've visited. The brewpub sits out on a little cape on the Oregon coast, literally right on the beach. Directly in front of the brewpub out in the water is a huge sea-stack, which if you're sitting outside you can sit and watch the whales swim around. Off to the right are humongous sand dunes and cliffs, complete with a sea-cave and tide pools at the foot. Great place to see even if there wasn't a brewpub there.
Inside of the brewpub is spacious but comfortable, excellent view of the brew room. We were lucky to be there when they were bottling the latest batch of Tsunami Stout, so we got to pick up a couple fresh as can be bottles. Nice outdoor patio overlooking the beach, we sat out there. Some overly friendly (hungry, fat) seagulls were waddling around the tables but they didn’t really bother anyone. Service was very prompt and friendly, our waitress seemed to be well familiar with the beers and food.
The food was decent brewpub food, not spectacular but good comfort food. Beers were excellent to phenomenal. We enjoyed a few while we were there, with the India Pelican ale and Tsunami Stout big winners. The brewpub also has a very well stocked gift shop, with plenty of brewery merchandise, bombers of whatever’s been brewed recently, etc. My fiancé was happy to see that they even had a few girls shirts, often a rarity at breweries. We left Pelican, full, happy, and much lighter in the wallet after having lunch, beers, and visiting the gift shop but no complaints from us. Great place, stop by if you can! (1,818 characters)

This place is too big for its britches. Charge to much for their beer and the wait is terrible to be seated for a meal. service sucks , they are just trying to tun and burn tables to seat the next patron that is fed up and justs wants fed. (240 characters)

Well, the location is certainly pretty cool... right on the beach, haystack rock, etc. the pub itself is more ordinary, it's got a pretty standard 90s brewpub feel. Nice enough, but nothing special.

They offer taster flights, but you can't pick your beers, which is a bit archaic. The beers we had were well made, but mostly unremarkable. I was quite disappointed by this as I knew of their numerous GABF and WBC wins and expected something pretty special. Unfortunately it seems that the awards speak more to their skill at entering competitions than their brewing particularly outstanding beers. Not that the beer was bad, but it was really no more than average.

The service was good, even though they were crowded. The food was good enough, but like the beer nothing special.

Overall, I left mildly disappointed, but my expectations were set too high by letting myself forget that GABF awards don't necissarily mean much. (930 characters)

Just about the best location possible. I quietly mentioned to my wife as we were relaxing on the patio, enjoying the view and the crisp and beautiful 60 degree air on this day in mid-January that I was about as happy as I could be. The only way I could be happier is if I was drinking a slightly better IPA.

The beer is good, not great. The food is greasy, standard pub stuff, nothing special. But the view, and the relaxed nature of the place, particularly on a not so busy day in the offseason, is worth a trip on its own. (525 characters)

One of my favorite places. My wife and I got engaged there. We visit as often as we can. Great beer, nice people, incredible view. Fill your growler and take a walk on the beach. I love it! (194 characters)

Probably the best location for any brewpub. Fun surf in the summer. You can drive on the beach and I'm pretty sure you can sleep in the parking lot. There's a campground right across the street too. Watched my friend paddle out on a massive October day and almost die. (268 characters)

Tillamook Pub: Wonderfully diverse & stylistically delicious brew selection, attentive & swift service, knowledgeable staff. Appropriate pricing on create-your-own brew sampler platters (for me, this is always a highlight for any brewery visit). (246 characters)

My wife and I stopped for lunch on a Tuesday as we traveled up the Oregon Coast eventually to Portland. We arrived at 2pm and it was still packed for lunch. Picture a very beach town type crowd. It was mostly locals or coastal tourists there for lunch.

We had to wait about 30 minutes for a seat outside, but the back patio is nice and the view is amazing. It was a beautiful, slightly cool sunny day and like most say on here, that ROCK is mesmerizing for some reason. If you like ocean views, check this place out.

They had all staples on tap, plus 3-4 seasonals/one-offs. In the front, they sell tons of brewery merchandise and most staples to go. They sell pints, a smaller size (I think it was 10oz) and then a flight. Their flight is pre-set to include all of their staples and one (1) seasonal/one-off. No substitutes. For example, the non staples they had no tap were Sea Hops, Peliweiss, Winema Wit and their Summer Ale.

The food was good, no complaints, but more expensive then I thought it would be. I wouldn't say I was impressed or blown away, just good food, average to slightly above average beer and good service with a great view. (1,162 characters)
