I bumped into this place by accident on my most recent trip to Cleveland, on the way to the Great Lakes Brewing Co. It was a Friday afternoon and they didn't open till 4:00, so we came back after having a few beers at GLBC. The GLBC beers were good but rather uninteresting, so we were happy to see the amount of variety on Bier Markt's menu.
We showed up just as the place was opening, and my friend and I were the only two people in the bar. This got us very personal attention from the bartender, who was very friendly and, while not as knowledgable as a lot of the beer geeks on this site, was enthusiastic about good beer and knew enough to steer his way around the bar's reasonable number of taps and impressive bottle collection.
The decor is very hip and young feeling, as is the staff. We sat at the bar, rather than taking advantage of the nice patio with free wifi. Didn't look to see what kind of food was available, but snacked on some bar nuts while we drank.
The stuff on tap was pretty impressive for Cleveland -- Dogfish Head 60 min IPA, St Bernardus Abt 12, La Chouffe, Rare VOS, LaBatt. OK, well, not all the stuff was good. But still -- an impressive set of stuff, and even more in bottles. A bit pricey (6 or so bucks a beer for most things), but so what?
The bartender told me they're planning on expanding the draft selection by another 10-20 taps in the near future. Since they seem to have a very good distributor, I imagine this is going to be very good news.
All in all, a great bar. They just opened up about 6 months ago so they're still in their fledgling stage -- so they need your support! Stop by next time you're in town, have a couple pints, and show your love for a business that's doing good things for craft beer.

Great selection of Belgian and Belgian inspired beer, especially the tap selection. Not the ideal place for a non-Belgian fan. Food is well made, especially the house made sausage on the Big Board. Bartenders know their beer and their food, and are enthusiastic to talk about them. They do a good job of making suggestions to people not familiar with the beers they carry.

Went in around 2:00 PM on a Saturday. Really cool atmosphere, that mix of industrial, and modern. You weave through the tables to get to the bar, which is pretty large and spacious. Once at the bar, there were about three or four people behind the bar, and not really busy, but it took a couple minutes to be recognized. Friendly, but somewhat elitist. Looking through the beer selection, which was very nice, but kind of run of the mill. Nothing really knocked my socks off. The food menu was nice as well, but ordering the meat/ cheese/ vegetable board for $19 and getting not that much. Not saying it wasn't good, but 3-4 ounces of meat, 4-5 ounces of cheese, and a beet and a cocktail onion for $19 was a bit much. I did enjoy this place, but I was expecting something a bit more the way I hear people talk about it. I just feel it was a bit pricey for about average stuff.
