Poured on tap on 3/8/13. First time I've seen this one on tap since coming here.
I think maybe there was a little chill-haze, maybe, but there was definitely some haze to the beer. It was not a pretty color of a brown ale, sort of an off-chestnut color and absolutely no head. For being a brew-pub, they really don't like pouring beer with head. The smell was a little wood smoke, maybe a brown sugar smell if that's possible. It just smelled like it wanted to be sweet. The taste though...I'm not sure that oat and brown really go great together. It's almost like the malt was negated by the extra sweetness of the oats. Also, it was very thin, almost a watery mess. Overall, not their best offering.

From notes taken at the brewpub. Overall I found this to taste like a normal brown ale, oatmeal presence was barely noted. The color is dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma is lightly malty and weak. The taste is of roasted malts, flavor is a mixture of coffee and chocolate. The finish is of lingering sweetness which I guess is the oatmeal. Spicy, dry hops add to the complexity of this beer and give this a winter warmer feel.
