Birreria Paradiso is actually the downstairs section of Pizzeria Paradiso's Georgetown location. The restaurant is located in an area with lots of high price shops in a nice neighborhood in D.C. My recommended path (if taking the subway) is to get off at the orange line Foggy Bottom-GWU stop, take a left, go around the rotary to Pennsylvania Ave then walk to M street, and continue until you find BP on the left.
The downstairs bar is a very cozy area (I'm stealing that from several reviews, but it fits perfectly) with a small bar area that seats 10-12 people. There is seating in the same area, along with stacks of wood, but not for the fire (it's gas). Next to the fireplace are some comfy lounge chairs. If you can grab these then you're in the best spot. Beer swag covers the walls.
There is a good selection of draft beer, ranging from lighter drinkable beers to heavy stouts and DIPAs. Each draft beer is described on a sheet, along with a little booklet of beers available from a bottle. The beers are a bit pricey, mostly from the area that they are located in (D.C.), but there appears to be a slight mark-up.
There staff is knowledgeable, some more than others. Usually the bartender will know exactly what to get you, while some may not be as familiar with the selection. Either way, it's good service.
All in all, a great place to visit. Best beer place in Georgetown, one of the top places in D.C. It's certainly my favorite place to go in D.C./NoVA. It may not have the most taps in D.C., but it certainly has the best atmosphere. Highly recommended.

For CBC week I wanted a place to hang out that was close to the hotel in G'town that had a decent beer selection. This is on M street and 1 1/2 blocks from my pass out bed.
Medium sized pizzaria on ground floor. Popular place; a bit crowded on entry--people waiting for seats seem to always block the doors. Was told the bar up stairs was smaller than the one downstairs...so I high tailed it downstairs to see what they had.
By bigger, she obviously meant selection. The room seats maybe 50. Lower ceilings, bar seats 10. But the selection was quite nice. While Churchkey may have the upper hand on selection, the more "intimate" atmosphere here offers quicker and better service. Nice selection of bottles...some Cantillons, one-offs and Hill Farmstead among others. Tap selection was quite good, too. Found some Prarie (OK), Oxbow and FFF.
Service at the bar was great (didn't utilize a server). A bit pricey for the bottles, but happy hour allows for 1/2 price drafts. Done and done.
Was really overly satisfied with this place, for location and selection, but service and timeliness were perks.

This review is for the M street location. I happened to be in DC this week and saw that Paradiso was doing a Three Floyds/Elysian beer night. I used to get these beers in PA a long time ago. I was excited but worried it would be a shit show here. I arrived just after 9pm.
Pretty small spot. Low lights. 45 minute wait for a table for four for beers at 9pm. No problem for me. We put our name on a list. The girl who took our name was very nice. Polite and professional.
We walked to the bar and as we ordered beer two bar stools left so two of us stood and two sat. I took my name off the wait list. The bartender was really friendly and offered us great service. The FFF night I found out was going on at the downstairs bar. Our bartender had no issues getting us beer from downstairs. Zombie dust was kicked before we got there. Still managed to have three rounds of great beers with no issues. It was pretty quiet at the bar and not really crowded.
Tap selection was great for the FFF/Elysian event and there were 4 other taps at the upstairs bar. All I remember was Uinta Hop Notch was on tap. Many people drinking bottles. I did not look at the bottle list but did see FFF/ Blackheart among many others on display and in the cooler behind the bar. I did not see prices for these. I did see the bartender pour a few and they were poured in correct glassware and poured well.
No food was had but the pizza looked very good. I did look at the price and it was a bit expensive but it is DC.
The beers were all $6ea and most were 16oz except the back masking stout was a 12oz. Not sure why. I was expecting an $8 plus pint in DC and at this event.
I would stop by again if in the area. Very happy with the beer, service and the whole night.

First time in Georgetown/DC area and I wasn't too wowed by the selection around there. Went to a few bottle shops near this place and it seemed like everywhere was just blown out of founders, bells, and floyds (lot of DFH and Flying Dog but all sixers). On the walk back to the hotel room, I literally walked into every bar on M st to check the selection( both sides of the street haha). After a bunch of strikeouts, I was getting hungry and swung through Pizzeria Paradiso, recommendation courtesy of BA. Sooo glad I did! They let me try Founders Porter on draft (phenomenal!) and gave me an excellent pairing for a pint of Flying Dog's Underdog Atlantic Lager. Very knowledgeable staff, great with the beer/pizza pairings (at least the guys seemed to be, the girl who ran our food out wasn't at all talkative which detracted from the overall experience). Little dark inside, but it was close to closing. Lot of college students too.
Definitely recommend a swing through for a pint to this sick little oasis if you find yourself in Georgetown!
