Appearance - Pours a hazy straw yellow with a mountainous, pillowy 3 finger head. Great retention, leaving a thick layer of suds across the surface. Lacing along the glass is thick, and clings to the sides with great ease.

Smell - Tart citrus, like lemon with touches of tangerine, along with clove and some milkiness that I pick up with a lot of witbiers. Wheat. Touches of floral character.

Taste - Lots of citrus bite. Lemon and tangerine. Clove finds its niche by mid-taste, along with some mild funk. Mild banana. Wheat hits near the finish before a balanced finish of flavors.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with lively carbonation. Goes down smooth and easy, with a crisp finish.

Overall - I like the mouthfeel with this one. A lot of witbiers suffer from what I think is a watery edge. This has a solid feel. I don't know that it's worth the price, but this is a quality wit.

Light straw gold color with an airy white head. Smelled mainly like unmalted wheat. The taste was wheaty like a standard wit but also seemed to have a Belgian yeast characteristic along with that. It finished pretty dry and a bit earthy. Really light, carbonated generously gave it a prickly feeling on the tongue. Pretty good and I would have this again.

Poured aggressively into my Zatec fluted glass. Got about a finger of head that died quicker than a 75 year old grandma playing Pacman. Smells of clove, coriander and citrus peel. Rather highly carbonated, and tastes about like it smells. Citrusy, Belgian Yeast and clove are prevalent. Definitely refreshing and a tasty afternoon/food beer. Good to see decent craft brews coming from the LA area.

750mL bottle opens with an explosive bang. served in a tumbler glass. Batch 74, slightly overcharged... too much priming sugar I heard, but it tasted fine.

Adequately murky pastel golden orange, with racing champagne carbonation. Lasting white foam on top, not much lacing worth mentioning.

Coriander in the aroma, vague citrus. Fairly mellow and not especially pungent.

Soft mellow feel, somewhat gaseous, chalky aftertaste, phenolic clove and coriander spice. Dusty wafer candy, flowery sweetness, dry finish. Medium bodied, again with a supple feel. Overall enjoyable if you like witbiers, fairly fine tuned and a touch rustic.

Bottle poured into a flute glass. Beer pours a lightly cloudy (swirled up a bit of yeast) golden yellow with two fingers of fluffy foamy head. Head dissipated quickly to nothing, leaving no lacing or any remnant of head. Plenty of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass though.

Nose is lemony, coriander, and pale malts. Not much yeast influence on the nose, which is a bit strange.

Taking a sip, light citrus peel bitterness, sweeter lemon, light floral note as well. A bit of coriander comes through as it sits on the tongue. Light biscuit and grain malt sweetness mid tongue, finishing clean with no aftertaste.

Light bodied and very carbonated, though not offensively so. Very refreshing, but not very flavorful or complex with the use of the yeast.

Reviewing the Telegraph White Ale from Telegraph Brewing Company.
Score: 77

2011 vintage bomber bottle shared, poured in a wine goblet.

Aroma: Pours a hazy golden yellow with a finger and a half of bubbly head that settles into a very thin layer. 2.5/5

Smell: White grape sweetness, a little tannic-acid and pinot grigio white wine. Apples and some banana-wheat yeastiness -- reminds me a lot of Ephemere from Unibroue. 3.5/5

Taste: Spiced banana bread upfront. A little tart white wine grape on the mid-palate. Sweet-and-sour. Crisp, acidic grape sweetness finish 3.5/5

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, high-medium carbonation. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Finish is sweet/sour. 3/5

Overall: A very non-offensive beer that is nothing special.

Recommendation: Casual beer drinkers may enjoy the fizzy flavors, while more experienced beer drinkers can find more complex brews within the style.

Pairings: Salad.

Cost: $8.99 for a 22 oz (bomber) bottle.

A - Pale hazy gold with plenty of head... which dies quickly.

S - Strong fruit aromas and coriander, with a little bit of orange sourness.

T - Very spicy. Citrus and wheat dominate, with a strong coriander/pepper backbone. A little bit of floral quality from the chamomile.

M - Very bubbly, but pretty watery. Flavor fades quickly but spiciness lingers.

D - Overall pretty tasty and refreshing... a good brew, but there are better witbiers out there for a lower price.

On draft at TAPS, Petaluma, CA.

Poured a hazy medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and good lacing.

The smell featured light esters, coriander and citrus.

The taste was likewise eatery with the traditional spices. The flavor was a bit thin however.

The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of the style with a vigorous carbonation.

Overall a serviceable wit.

Tasted from 750mL bottle at Lush Roscoe. Pours a cloudy light yellow with a thick and bubbly white head that recedes to heavy lace. Nose of yeast and candy sugar with some wheat and tart fruits. On the front of the palate, the candy sugar, wheat and tart fruits come through with peach and green apple on the middle and wheat dominates the finish. The body is fairly light with above average carbonation and a pretty short finish. This beer is quite nice and super drinkable.

A: The pour is a very pale yellow color with lots of haze and a massive white head.

S: Not a very appealing nose to this beer. Corn, sour wheat, and lemon juice are apparent right away. Some mild bread and spice notes, but not very witbier-esque.

T: A little improvement on the tongue, but not much. More sourness, mostly in the form of lemons, some lightly tart wheat, a very mild spice character and notes of sweet bread.

M: The body is light with a moderate level of carbonation.

D: I really like their Reserve Wheat Ale, so I was hoping this would be good. Unfortunately, not the case.

Serving: bottle (Batch #70)

a - The beer was a pale cloudy yellow with a bright white, big bubbled head that dissipated quickly and left absolutely zero lacing.

s - The aroma had a very strong apple note up-front (Gala, not tart) with a little bit of the orange hidden behind. Not as yeasty as I was expecting. Unfortunately, the quickly dissipating head took away some of the more interesting apple notes while drinking.

t - The spices are strong at the front, prominently allspice. There's a really subtle note of citrus from the orange, but it's very mild, and I only noticed it over the length of the bottle. The ending is reasonably dry and reminded me of a chardonnay. It's a pretty nice flavor, but it's very light.

m - While the head was virtually non-existent, the tiny bubbles in the beer made for a pretty nice mouthfeel. I could have done with maybe a touch more carbonation, but it gave the beer more of a champagne like feel.

o - This is a really mild beer that I would use in the same way as a white wine, pairing it with an opening sheep's mlk cheese/crackers or if trying to win over a champagne fan. I thought it was a little watery and would have liked a bit more punch from something and a more lingering head, but it was still a pleasant beverage.
