From 01/07/12 notes. Thanks to whoever brought this one to the last RB tasting.

a - Pours a murky bright light yellow color with one inch of white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of brett, citrus, spices, oranges, wheat, and light funk. Very nice nose, like it a lot.

t - Tastes of funk/brett, lightly sour fruits, wheat, bready malts, light citrus, earthy notes. Very nice again.

m - Light body and moderate carbonation, though the body is a bit watery.

o - Overall the body is a bit thin and watery, and it doesn't look great, but the nose and taste are very good. Would certainly have it again.

This is a pretty good effort. Not crisp like a berliner should be, but a worthy effort. Lemon Verbena comes through strong, very juicy. A bit flabby and messy, but still purty good. I should be a good beer advocate and make sure this review is two hundred and fifty characters. Did I make it this time? Thanks Dakine!

Pours a cloudy, but very light lemon yellow colour. Head is minimal, but fine and filmy where it appears. Minimal lace as well. Looks very light in the body, and looks still when tilted.

Clean, and oddly hoppy nose, with a slight wheaty acidity. Some acidity, a pleasant roundness and a bit of assy funk. Mostly, the characters derive from the wheat, with a very slight sweet citrus overtone. Very nice.

Taste is lemony, with citrus dominant and a very light bodied wheat backbone. Funky finish, like orange citrus candy, and an echo of celery: fresh and bright. Feel is very thin, which works, but it's still very thin.

It's a nice beer. Easy to drink, but with plenty of interest. The wild elements give it its edge.

Bottle shared by Huhzenbendah at a recent tasting. Thanks Matt. Beer is yellow and completely cloudy with a thin white head of tiny bubbles that disappears nearly immediately. No lacing apparently low carbonation.

Aroma has a mild funk, some oakiness to it, mild lactic acid, some citrus and some grain, smells good.

Beer is thin and watery with a nice wheat finish to it. Some oak in the late palate, overall a nice little wild ale. Nothing too aggressive about it just a solid simple palate, mild lactic acid, overall I'd have it again.

Murky gold, not much lacing. Smell yeast and wheat. Taste lemon, wheat, bubble gum. Medium body, clean, very tart finish. Tart!

Bottle from trade, and then I found it in Phoenix as well. Addition of lemon verbena, as well as lactobacillus and brettanomyces. A dry wheat ale, a wheat and lemony aroma. The mouthfeel is certainly not thin, but it is not a creamy wheat taste from a normal wheat ale. That part disapointed my drinking buddy. I got some brett, some herbal lemony flavour, and it was most drinkable to me. It is unique. Light colour with substantive bubbly white head.

Berliner Weisse? Hard to say what this is... it was very clean, with a lemony lactic tartness. Dull pastel yellow, very little foam. Dusty wheat and lemon in the nose. Moderate puckering tartness, just very clean and maybe somewhat one dimensional. Brisk and zesty carbonation, with a quenching feel to it. Dry finish.

I expected maybe more complexity for a $13 750mL of wild ale billed with Brett and Lacto. For the money i'd rather get a couple 1809's or a Bruery Hottenroth.

Consumed 07/18/09 at Blue Palms, Hollywood, CA.

Clear, light golden with no active carbonation. The head is a very fine thin skin of foam.

Aroma of bubblegum.

Mild wheat tang with subtle bubblegum flavor. Conservative levels of funk and a citric sourness. Soft, powdery (talc and floral) character to finish. No bitterness in evidence.

Soft mouthfeel.

Not at all a difficult drinker, but in the absence of any assertive flavors, the experience is a little lacking.

750 ml bottle poured into Chimay Chalice

Pours hazy straw yellow. Lots of carbonation in the glass. Thin white head fluffs up and goes away quickly leaving being very little lacing.

On the nose I'm greeted with tart lemon and brett funk with some faint caramelized sugar tucked away. Smells pleasant and inviting.

Initial taste is mellow lemon zest; bites the side of your tongue like a sour should, but doesn't bite very hard. The funkiness is more noticeable on the finish and is paired with some noticeable oxidation. The sweetness that was there on the nose doesn't really show in the taste...and that's too bad. It would add a nice layer.

This feels medium/light bodied with very good carbonation. Coats the mouth while still being refreshing and not too syrupy.

Overall I enjoyed this and would recommend it as a good introduction to sours for anyone. All the components you look for in a sour are there without anything really standing out. I will seek this out again and will enjoy it. Cheers!

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a hazy yellow, solid white head, good retention.

S: Lactic acid, lemon.

T: Big on the lactic acid though not overbearing. Notes of fermented yellow/green apples, lemons, and a hint of strawberry I always get with this beer.

M: Full-bodied for the style, brisk/fizzy carbonation, but not too much, dry, clean, definite acidity.

D: A very nice Berliner from Telegraph, a beer to compare with the Bruery's for the best I've had in Southern California. Not the greatest drinkability as it is heavy in a way at times, but a refreshing, interesting beverage nonetheless.

Poured from a 1 pint, 9.4 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. Color was light golden, but not quite pale. Looked a bit like lemonade or pineapple, or maybe a mix. About ½ inches of head. Minimal lacing on the top that dissipated very quickly. No film on the sides.

Smelled a lot of different flavors, including pears, apples, cloves and a touch of puke. If not puke, then sour beer.

Tasted very sour and tarty from the get-go and right away I noticed a lot of carbonation. I also got the pears, which I smelled so heavily before. The cloves try to make a late run of it, but it wasn’t too strong. Overall pretty tarty.

Medium body. Oily texture. Fizzy (high) carbonation. Astringent finish.

This was my first ever sour beer. At least that was what I’d call it. It has its moments, but I’m sure others must be better. Maybe I’ll go back to this after I try a few others.

750 ml bottle thanks to Ghettofabulous. Pours a pale yellow with some fizzy head that dissipates relatively quickly. Cloudy in appearance. Nice nose of citrus hay and grass. Taste is lightly tart and just sour enough. Nice notes of citrus, Brett, little grassiness. Not really that inky but a real refreshing tartness. Well done for the style. This is great for a nice hot day as it is quite refreshing. Big fan of Berliners just wish more people would do them!

Picked up a bottle of this today at SouthBayDrugs.

Very pale yellow with an inch of egg shell white foam, good retention. Some lacing. Cloudiness with the yeast pour. Decent look for a Berliner weiss type beer.

Grassy, lemon, wheat, lacto, little brett. Pale malt sweetness in the background. Sour orange, and a bit of an herbal aroma. White pepper too. A little more funk and yeastiness with the yeast pour. Good aroma.

Light and tart with an herbal lemon flavor in the finish. Maybe a little tart nectarine and orange but very subtle. Not too complex but I'm sure some time in the bottle would be good for this beer.

Medium-high carbonation, slightly tart and refreshing. Excellent for a summer beer.

750ml brown bottle with a freshness date.

LOOK: Big foam, clear yellow straw

SMELL: Lemon oil, tart, fresh crackers, wild herbs, faintly musty.

TASTE: Deep smoothness, even tartness, dry grain, yeast, mild funk, dry finish.

Lacto & Brett ... both are very tame here though add just enough to bring some tartness and funk to the palate. The subtle approach works as it ends up extremely drinkable.

Appears a fizzy, light gold with a small white head that slowly fades into a mild cap & collar. Streaky lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of lemon up front, tart wheat, and a touch of berries.
Taste is of the mentioned lemon zest, obvious wheat, along with tropical fuit and banana being detected.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, tart, with with acidic citrus tickling the tongue on the finish.
