Sure, there's quite a bit of last year's seasonals, but every now and then you stumble on something that isn't too hurt by a few extra years on it. Nice folks, though, and for macro and Caribbean beer, it's worth a stop.

This place sells EXPIRED BEER!
They are well-priced and will deliver crates, but will deliver EXPIRED BEER!
Check your beer dates! Was recently sold- count 'em- NINE six packs of expired beer- in an order of sixteen. Thats more than half of my beers were EXPIRED and not just by a week or a month: one came in 11 months.

this place is full of rotting beer. year old seasonals, mikkeller stuff that was made once six years ago, and so on.

Large selection, but some bottles, especially IPA's, are long past their prime.

If you like to overpay for old beer - and I mean really like it - then this is the place for you.
The selection is fine, and there are a few things that aren't lingering on shelves anywhere else (like Super Kitty and Joe Mama's Milk), but most things seem to be on average $3-5 more expensive than you would pay elsewhere. I realize everywhere can't be as gloriously thrifty as New Beer, but I think the lingering Goose Island Three Sisters bottles here were five or six bucks more than they are at New Beer. Other things that were lingering on the shelves seemed pretty steep, too. (Was Marron Acidifie originally $26?)
As the previous reviewer noted, some of the price hikes are pretty egregious. They're asking $6.99 for a Founders Breakfast stout single, and the other special Founders releases/seasonals (Backwoods Bastard, Cerise, etc.) had similarly absurd markups.
The other problem I've noticed on my two visits is that a lot of the stuff kicking around in the store is old. And not a little old, either. "I saw a 2009 Sierra Nevada Celebration..." old. Definitely check bottle dates if you're picking up anything hoppy or not suitable for cellaring here; the Long Trail Double Bag sixers at the front of the cooler were over 10 months old when I looked at them.
Overall, while this place has a decent-to-good selection and is reasonably close to my place, I don't really see stopping in again. Expensive beer is no fun, and expensive, stale beer is even less fun. If you're in this general area of Brooklyn, Bierkraft and Eagle Provisions are better options.

Brooklyn has several beer stores for great beer selection and growler service as well, so if you're thinking about stopping here, think again.
Brooklyn Beer has alot of the stuff everyone wants when it comes out BCBS, King Henry, CBS,Mikkeler, Frestone Walker, Sam Utopias, etc.
They also have decent (in terms of selection) growler station with about 12 taps and samples for anything you want to try. Alot of places dont let you sample, so this is a definite plus for these guys.
However, as of fall 2011 I noticed that the all the prices have gone up 2-3$ on about everything in the store.
Definitely more expensive than alot of the other stores I frequent around the city. Price markups vs stores in the same neighborhood = no good.
Also the cashier tried to screw me when I asked about getting a bottle of FBS. He told me it only comes in singles in New York State for 6.99. I politely told him that I've bought in 4pks so if you think Im stupid, you probably want to make sure im not more informed than you are about beer before you try to pull one over on me.
Only plus is I found 2007 Arcadia Ceral Killer Barlewyine, for 9$, but they're charging 9.99 for Pumking when every other place in NYC is charging 7.99 or cheaper, this is the same for some other beers as well.
Better places with cheaper prices in Brooklyn. Avoid.

one of my first concerns when moving to prospect heights was how close i'd be to bierkraft. then i noticed brooklyn beer and soda a couple blocks over. now i don't care about bierkraft anymore.
to be honest, i wasn't expecting much, but it exceeded my expectations in every way. very friendly and helpful staff. they let you try beer from the growler station, which is awesome. selection is well above average. lots of arcadia, dfh, troegs, bear republic, goose island, bruery etc... they had a lot of nugget nectar which made me happy. 8 taps at the growler station. respectable belgian and german selections. CHEAP prices for nyc standards.
bierkraft might have a few beers that are harder to find, but brooklyn beer and soda is legit. great staff, surprisingly good selection, great prices. excellent spot.

Larger box of a place, Prospect Heights location, just a few blocks north of Grand Army Plaza, the Library, museum and Prospect park in Brooklyn. Impressive and wide ranging selection, seemed like tons of domestic good stuff and thinner on the imports, which is fine with me. 6 Growler fill stations in the back. Not flexible on the growler pours, they will only fill 64 ounce jugs, more flexible with the bottles, they do singles..nice..best selection in the immediate vicinity, clean, well lit, well stocked, fiendly young lass behind the counter. Worth a visit, you will find loads of BA worthy brew here.

Decent place in Prospect Heights on the once blighted now slowly recovering Washington Ave. By far the best part about this place is the hours. If you are hankering for something at 11:45 in the evening you can roll on down to the store to pick up a sixer or a case. This place is more dedicated to macros on the whole, but there are some nice little finds in the cooler and behind the counter. Most of the coolers are nothing but macros with an eye to more local stuff e.g. brooklyn, southampton, DFH, Riverhorse etc. The people who work there are very nice and quite helpful although knowing spanish will help you out quite a bit. Good place but nothing to go nuts over.
