Poured out as a nice rich black color with a massive brown head on it... looked like it might be infected. The smell of the beer doesn't have any off aromas that I can pick up. It smells roasted and it's definitely a stout on the nose. The taste is packed with rich dark malts subtle bitterness in the finish but the burnt chocolate balances the beer out a bit. The mouthfeel of the beer is super carbonated... bubbles like a champagne. The smoothness of the beer is eliminated by this makes it a harsh and tough beer to drink. Overall I'm not sure if it's infected or just way over carbonated. This beer would be really good if the mouthfeel can be fixed.

22 oz bottle, no date. Label features a black and white cat, and notes that the beer is named after their brewery mascot, Tuxedo the cat. No ABV indicated, and they don't list on their website either.

appears black, with giant 3" thick clumpy tan head. great head retention and lacing, it absolutely coats the glass. tons of bitter cocoa and espresso flavors in the aroma. nice.

taste is extremely roasty, a bit acidic. definitely on the bitter side, not sweet at all. lower carbonation, medium body. I think a bit thicker would work better.

overall- a nice RIS that is true to the style.

Bomber purchased at Oak Tree.

Totally black body, topped by four billowing rocky fingers of medium tan dentable foam.

Inviting assertive deep roasted coffee aroma. Traces of licorice. Hint of chocolate.

Taste is predominately coffee. Some earthy hops. Echo of dark fruit. Straightforward, not complex.

Mouthfeel is a bit wimpy or an imperial stout, needs to be chewier.

An ok but unexceptional Russian Imperial Stout.

a nice dark brown pour with a TON of dark tan head. lots of dark roasted scent, licorice, chocolate, coffee. the flavor is a smoked dark roasted grain profile, kind of sweet for an imperial stout, with a coffee - like kick. honestly, the best tasting beer i've had from climax in a LONG time. lots of dark chocolate.
medium body with high carbonation, a bit odd for the style, but keeps it interesting.

i know this isn't by far one of the best RIS i've tasted, but i'm honestly just glad to have a beer from this brewery that isn't infected. granted, this has been sitting in my cellar for about a year, and i'm sure it was brewed before they started having problems with their batches. anyway, it's a decent RIS, and one of the better beers i've had from climax.

Bomber. Pours jet black with huge never ending, creamy, brown head. Aroma is of toasted malt, chocolate, and hints of vanilla and raisins. Body is medium, creamy and slightly crisp. Toasted, nutty malt, coffee, chocolate, burnt grain, earthy hops, vanilla and dark fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and bitter. Not very complex or intense as other RISs but nice, easier to drink Imperial Stout.

Climax tuxedo

A - pours a deep midnight black with a massive mocha color head that just wouldn't go down. 4

S - very nice aroma. Lots of oily espresso beans, charred grains, melted dark chocolate and dusty cocoa powder. There is some of what i can only interperate as hop character buried underneath with a slightly herbal and pine note. 4

T - very strong black coffee up front. Lots of dark bread and roasty, charred character. Semi sweet chocolate and dried fruit notes in the center meld into a rasianet. Slight herbal flavor on the back end which lingers as well as the sweet and roasty finish. 4

M - smooth yet slightly watery texture. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. 3

O - a really nice imperial stout. Bold flavors with a nice balance. 4
