I always assumed this was some kind of wine bar. It is kind of. Half of it is a beer/liquor/wine store and half is a deli. It is located in an upscale strip mall east of Westroads Mall; fairly easy to find, with enough parking it seemed.
The focus, based on the name, is on wine I guess. There was quite a bit of beer. Sadly, not a lot of it seemed fresh. There were six-packs of fall and summer seasonals (it is February). The typical domestic offers could be found, Boulevard, Odell, Sam Adams, Empyrean, New Belgium, SN, Rogue, Goose Island, etc. The prices were a tickle high. Quality is a concern. There were 15 or so varieties of imports from Sam Smith, Chimay, and Spatan, to South American Lagers. I didnt see anything too special. I was very surprised to see cases of Ommegang Three Philosophers but for $16 a four-pack.
About half of the beer is stored at room temperature, to the left as you enter the store, and the rest is on the far back wall.
There was a very small selection of glassware. I bought an Orval goblet for $5. When I checked-out the employee said, Nice glass. I told him it was one of my favorite beers. He looked at me like I had three heads. Now that is beer knowledge! He was friendly and all but pretty damn clueless when I asked him about his Ommegang selection. Oh, well
Would I go back? I guess. It is close to Whole Foods and this store is the only place I know that has Three Philosophers. Like I said, quality is a concern but Ill try again.
