This is a great Portland brewpub. A bit stark on the atmoshpere but they brew great beer and even have some guest taps that are of the highest quality. They even have a covered outdoor area in which they encourage you to bring your dog (fun for the locals). They held a GREAT barley wine festival last year (some said it was the 2nd biggest in the country) and hopfully they will do it again next year.

This was stop #25 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy their beers and to have dinner. The pub is located in a storefront building along a busy, one-way street, and there is parking in the rear as well at the curb. The interior is a large open area that eliminated any cozy feel that we like in a brewpub setting, but it wasn’t industrial feeling either.

We ordered a sampler flight of 6 of the 12 beers (two of the 12 were also available on nitro/cask plus a guest beer and a cider were listed) plus our food at the counter, and chose to sit on the rear porch (actually, it’s like a big loading dock). We sipped the beer until the food arrived. The beers were all above average to their respective style, and the Superdog IPA was notable as the best of the group. (The Black Lab Stout was not roasty enough for us, but it was still a good beer.) The food menu was typical pub food items, and what we ordered was tasty but nothing exceptional.

This brewpub is worthy of a visit (and a re-visit by us), but there are many others that we would try first before returning here.
