Pours a dark golden caramel color with a creamy light tan head. Aroma consisted of caramel, malt and nut. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied. Buttery toasted biscuit flavors, followed by sweet caramel, malt and toasted nut. Finishes with a lingering hoppy bitterness. Not a perfect amber, but enjoyable nontheless.

One of the few mirco beers on the menu at the restaurant that I ate at. I had this with roasted young duck in a cherry sauce that was served with wild rice with chopped cherries and vegetables. The caramelly sweetness of the amber off-set the tart cherry and roasted flavors rather well.

Port Washington is now brewed at the new Hops Haven Brew Haus in Sheboygan, where I tried this on its opening weekend. Has a nice, easy nose and a balanced roasty malt flavor. I'm finding this isn't really one of my favorite styles, as its specs don't allow for flavor to jump out at you; but this is at the very least a nice, easy tasty session beer. Just not one you'd order again only because there's always more interesting beers available.

Looks good, and smells all-right.....amber colored with a puffy white head...nose is minimal but some malt notes emerge with a big ol sniff....the taste is metallic....almost like blood...there are also some husky hop notes but they are very slight and drowned out by the blood taste...really disappointed with this one...

This beer has a nice deep amber color. Very little head. Aroma is almost negligible. Maybe some faint malt. Taste is pretty watery and bland. There is a small amount of caramel malt detected and some faint bittering notes. There is also a bit of a soapy aftertaste. Nothing to shout about here. I just noticed that this beer is contract brewed by Pioneer Brewing in Black River Falls Wisconsin. And I actually thought I was getting something straight from the Port Washington Brewery. Oh well.
