500ml bottle

A- Light orange/dark golden colour. About 1 and a half finger of dense-looking white head that shows decent retention and leaves nice amounts of lacing in the sides of the glass

S- Fresh whiff of herbal/grassy hops right out of the bottle after opening. Also reveals a maltier, biscuity character after closer inspection, with maybe some light fruity (lemon) notes on the back of things

T- Slightly crisp crackery malts, with maybe some sweeter notes of honey. Lively refreshing but still extremely gentle hoppiness, with distinct fresh grassy notes, along with a more subdued floral feel. A hint of frutiness may be detected on the palate

M- Medium bodied with moderate but still decently mouthfilling carbonation, resulting in what i would describe as a slick but still pleasantly lively feel

O- A straight-forward marzen, it brings exactly what you would expect from a bavarian beer. No surpises here, just an highly refreshing, perfectly balanced beer

Color is a clear golden amber with an attractive white foam in the Einbecker Pilsner glass. Pleasant aroma of caramel and a funny flowery hop.

There is a distinct candy taste with the faintly skunky hoppy finish. This reminds me of the classic Eurolager with that weird hop taste but with the body and sweetness of a malt liquor. Or maybe it's a lightened-up Maibock with that scratch in the back of the throat. But if you triangulate all that you arrive at this sweet funky mess. Maybe it's the German version of a pre-war lager-- only they mean the Thirty Years War.

This is actually quite drinkable once you get over any expectations. It's a strong-tasting pale Bockbier with a moderate alcohol content. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a pint glass

A: Copper-golden color, very clear, very little lacing

S: Caramel, malty, very straight forward

T: Kinda wheaty, very caramel

F: Very smooth, medium body

O: Good marzen that goes down easy, but nothing surprising

500ml bottle. Weizen glass. Brass color, clear appearance. White froth & lose crown showing fairly good retention. Malty, floral & mild toasted aromas. Spicy upfront, candy & phenolic flavors follow. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Watery mouthfeel. Floral bitterness arises & lingers into bitter finish. Herbal infusion & liquor memories on the aftertaste.

Ok now... Hmm... Picked this up on a lim at the local German deli and it's ok, I guess. When Raul sees a label with medieval churches on it, he thinks he's feelin' it. But this one, not so much. Ok, but way too syrupy like that one time Raul broke up with the captain of the cheerleading squad.

Bad memories, my friends.

Peace!

Half litre bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip.

A: Golden colour, clear, medium head, moderate retention, kept some lacing but didn't look that lively.

S: Malt, grassy, caramel.

T: Caramel, grass, straw, hay, lots of farmyard, pepper, wheaty finish.

M: Slightly thick body, medium to low carbonation, bit of a coarse edge.

O: Ticks all the boxes a Maerzen should, subtle and very drinkable.

A orange golden beer with a nice lacing head.

The smell is very malty with distinct melanoidine whiffs. There are light dextrinous smells that are typical German. All very light.

The taste is light and medium malty. The beer has notes of melanoidines, amber malts and maybe some honey. The taste has a oktoberfest-like taste that is a bit thicker and maltier than a pilsner, but very drinkable. The bitterness is quite low, even for the style. The absence of bitterness gives the beer a slight unbalance.

This beer pours a nice medium dark golden with a great head that lasts and has lacing complete to the end. It is a clear golden color that is hard to describe. It smell of really fine malts with hints of hops and nuts. It tastes great with nice almost biscuit malts with nice hints of nuts. It goes down really smooth with a nice hint of hops finish. It is super drinkable and is very nice with a meal.
