From the half liter bottle, it pours a clear amber color with a modest white head that slowly reduces. Scent is somewhat spicy light malt. The mouth gets a light touch of caramel followed by malt. Body is medium with some residual.

Another one of this delicious Bavarian Christmas beers that I am working through. They all seem to have in common this deliciously increased herbal noble hopping. This one is no exception only it differs from most other by adding some darker malts (Munich probably) like in a Märzen instead of relying on the Pilsener malt flavours alone, which is a negative point for me in taste, as I am not the biggest fan of this kind of malts in lagers. Still worth trying

a slightly richer lager for the winter time, looks and drinks like a marzen, which if it isnt one, is pretty darn close to one in terms of style and the way it presents itself in my glass. cool to have this on tap, not enough old school german beer around on draft anywhere anymore, so it was fun to see and i jumped right on it. a hazy rusty orange pour with a tall and rising airy white head, pretty beer in its rawness. aroma is less sweet than expected for the style and color, a drier cooked and toasted cereal complexion with a classic german lager yeast to it, slightly dusty to me as it almost always is, just a weird way i smell and taste this yeast, strange association i know, but its there, and hardly any hops at all, but this might be a little older now, being spring and all at this point. the flavor has a nice earthy grain profile, a baked warmth about it, some minerals, maybe some wheat too, a breadiness, and not much residual sugar at all. i love the high carbonation keeping the fuller body moving along, and i like it being on the dry side for the style, the yeast kicks butt in the finish. not my favorite example of the style, and an unexpected find this time of year, but ill never be dissatisfied with a well made german lager, and i enjoyed this accordingly.

Bright copper liquid pours beautifully. Smell is nutty, toasted malts and grains, with notes of toffee, cocoa and berries. taste confirms the smell's first impression.
Great balance between dry and sweet, solid, rich flavor combined resulting in a superb beer.
Too bad this one is around only around the holiday, I wish I could enjoy it all year long.

Normally, when you enjoy a lager beers tend to be very balanced, excess bitter taste or staying some part unbalanced. This beer is round without imbalance. Although not the style I do recognize that there are craft beer.

Served cool from 500ml bottle into straight pilsner mug.

L) Deep amber colour, clear, lots of bubbles, 2cm bright white bubbly head, dissipates to <1cm fairly quickly.

S) Nothing huge, but some fairly weak odours of warm malts.

T) Deep malty flavour, slight refreshing acidity from carbonation, light hop bitterness at the back. Nothing complicated here.

F) Medium carbonation for a lager, and a bit of density. No bitterness or unwelcome aftertastes.

O) Malty Vienna-type lager, easy drinking, a good chewy chugger for lager drinkers in the winter months.

Clear, amber, finger and a half of a slowly receding off-white head. Seems rather carbonated, too.
Sweet malt, caramel, toasted grain, hint of citrus peel, stale fruit, faint German hop.
Sweet malt syrup and caramel in the taste, on the brink of being simply too much. Biscuit, some spiciness, a generic fermenting fruit note too (apple, faint dark grape). Some woody, or rather hay-like notes, some hops in the finish, trying to be bitter enough to cut off the sweetness, but failing. Bit of metal instead.
The body is really nice, rather smooth, fluffy, tho a bit sticky. Not overly carbonated. Aftertaste has lingering sweet malts and an off note, probably the lager yeasts.
Doesn't really warm much, but it's almost tasty, better than many other märzenbiers out there and almost fitting that profile (makes me think of a Vienna lager more), so might be a good alternative to those. Finishing it wasn't a chore, so i guess it's ok.
