Triumph "Chinook IPA"
Part of their "Single Hop Varietal Series" they say: "This batch of our familiar Bengal Gold has been made with a single hop variety from start to finish, namely Chinook. One of the first of the American "C" cultivars, its aroma evokes grapefruit in a big way."
A heavy, clear amber. Head is big an bold, but quickly falls to a piddling ring of froth.
Grassy, some minor citric notes of grapefruit -- a disappointment considering the hype. Metallic -- the curse of all Triumph beers.
Very well hopped! It's fresh and bitter, and just a bit grassy. It has a rather interesting sweet brandy-like finish that I quite like.
Medium-bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Really, it could be much more carbonated. Too bad.
Nothing special, workman-like and drinkable.
Serving type: on-tap
