During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct this situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative.) The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer.

Decent on a warm summer afternoon. Easy on the palate and nose, but too bubbly and filling.

Appearance: Served up a clear, copper-hued body with a near white head.
Smell: Standardized pale maltiness with some slight sweetish accents and hop notes of citrus backed by faint, faint florals and a little earthiness.
Taste: Pale malts bolstered by a golden syrup-type sweetness. A little pithiness, with hop flavors of lemon and grapefruit citrus fruits. Moderate bitterness. Drying, with sustained tastes of the golden syrup maltiness and the citrus rinds.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It's okay; had better, had worse.

Poured into a pint glass at the Nashville Bosco's.
A - No head on this beer. Don't know if they poured it and then waited to serve it. The color was a darker gold with some orange hints.
S - Very mild nose. Lacking any substantial aroma. Some hints of citric hops but nothing that garbed my attention.
T - Not favorable at all. The hop character was mostly just bitterness with lack of flavor. No piney character or citrus grapefruit is felt. Not the best. It fell a bit flat on the taste buds as well as on the nose, which doesn't help.
M - light bodied, low CO2
D - Pass

A - Golden orange color with a thin off-white head. Very little retention to the head and light lacing in the glass.
S - Strong, but not at all overwhelming hop aroma. Primarily pine with hints of grapefruit and lemon zest underneath. A light toffee sweetness lingers as well.
T - Pale malt sweetness initially which is quickly outmatched by pine and citrus hop tastes. Not overwhelming hoppiness at all but it is certainly the primary taste. Finishes very clean with a light sweetness that lingers on the tongue.
M/D - Somewhat light in the mouth but very easy drinking. Excellent level of carbonation.
