A - Cloudy and golden brown in color. Slightly darker than expected. Finger-width head that clings to the glass fairly well, slowly dissipates, and lingers faintly.

S – Sweet. Pumpkin, vanilla, nutmeg. A little cinnamon.

T – Initially, I’m having trouble picking up any one thing in particular. Definitely clove in the after-taste. As I keep drinking, I’m having a hard time getting around the clove and spices. Not really getting much pumpkin. Yep, now clove is the first and last thing I taste with fleeting hints of whatever in the middle.

M – Slightly creamy and bitey.

O – My favorite thing about this beer is how it smells. I was nearly snorting it. Other than that… eh, it’s different. I appreciate its individuality and homegrown nature. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be getting this one again. Great brewery, but missed the mark with me on this one.

Poured into a balloon glass.

Look: Deep amber/cinnamon body, a cream colored head recedes to a light wisp. No lacing.

Aroma: The typical spices of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, etc.

Taste: I think the cinnamon overwhelms most everything else. The beer is kind of metallic tasting as well. Nothing really stands out.

Mouthfeel: Surprisingly watery.

Overall: The more I drank this, the less I liked it. I was surprised at such a low ABV as well.

750mL bottle poured into a snifter.

(A)- Pours an auburn caramel color. Minimal white froth.

(S)- A good blend of pumpkin with spices. A good underlying richness throughout.

(T)- A bit thin with a caramel and spice sweetness; not much pumpkin.

(M)- A good carbonation level. It is just a bit thin and sweet with a little heat to it.

(O)- With all of the pumpkin beers out there, this for me, gets lost in the middle.

Aroma: Up front nutmeg, followed by ginger and cinnamon. No hop aroma (strange in a Rogue beer, but OK for style). Sweet sugary malt and a hint of honey.

Appearance: Deep copper to nearly brown in color. There is a slight haze to it. A huge off-white head that is largely persistent.

Flavor: Sweet maltiness throughout the taste. Nutmeg and cinnamon are the dominant spices in this one, and come off present but somewhat muted or faded. A subtle roastiness sets this one a bit different from many of these beers. No hop flavors.

Overall: A bit bland and muddied, but not a bad beer. Lacks complexity. If this is indeed last year's batch the spices may have faded and left this one a little blah. Still drinkable and better than some others.

A: Dark copper bordering on dark brown. Light cream foam with a medium carbonation.

S: Vegetable, gourds, cinnamon and nutmeg. Malty caramel. Rich vanilla. Slight alcohol and milky creaminess.

T: Rich malt up front. Strong wheat bread notes. Rich, beefiness and nuttiness of walnuts and almonds. Richness is overtaken by a light tartness and tanginess with cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin celery carrot. The spice finishes like a spice cake with an understated sweetness. Spice grows and grows--a bit too much.

M: Smooth and creamy. Rich and slightly tart and crisp on the finish. Finishes sweet and juicy. Really easy drinking here. Wonderfully balanced and really mellow. Loses points for the pumpkin spice that builds too large as the beer slightly warms.

O: This beer has been sitting in my fridge for about 3 months. I'm Leary of pumpkin beers but I had heard good stuff about this one. After an actual good pumpkin beer experience with red hooks pumpkin porter I figured I'd give one last try. It's good. One of the best pumpkins I've had.. But I've had a lot of terrible pumpkin beers so the average is still low. Recommended if you want to try one last pumpkin beer before giving up altogether.

Smells very natural, as opposed to some other, extract-ish and over-spiced versions of the same.
Can detect clove and nutmeg, but the overall flavor impression is a very pumpkin/squash flavor. I prefer this form of seasonal pumpkin flavored ale to the more typical clove and nutmeg and ginger with a hint of pumpkin.

Poured dark and smooth, very thick head (i poured pretty fast), a very robust spicy smelling beer with great pumpkin flavor. Tasted very similar to the Alewerks Pumpkin which I really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend, a little pricy at 10 bucks for a 750ml

A: Pours a lightly chill-hazed medium amber color with a fingers worth of head that fades to nothing in less than a minute

S: Pumpkin pie spices and a light sweetness come through the most. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove come through the most for the spices. Cardamom and ginger also present. Pumpkin come through a little bit as well

T: Starts off with the spices. Again, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove are the front runners. The crystal wheat provides some sweetness along with the vanilla. Orange peel comes through near the end to give a very light bitterness. Finishes with a mix of the spices and a light sweetness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice, well-balanced pumpkin beer that doesn't go overboard on the pie spices. Seems bigger than 5.6% (probably due to the pumpkins) while still remaining easy to drink. A little pricey as usual with Rogue, but the bottle is cool to show off

Bottle: Poured a caramel color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of caramelized malt with some well-balanced notes of pumpkin, cinnamon and cloves. Taste is also a well-balanced mxi between some pumpkin notes with some cinnamon and some cloves with some caramelized malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. Really enjoyable pumpkin beer.

Purchased because the beer store I was at didn't have Southern Tier Pumpking. Bought it for a friend who loves pumpkin beers. Clerk suggested this as a close facsimile. The taste is pure pumpkin. Very smooth. Friend also loved it. The price is a bit steep, but for a specialty beer that i wasn't sure of, i'm glad I bought it.
